POSITION: NON-EMERGENCY TRANSPORTATION (NEMT) DRIVER
CLASSIFICATION CODE: NON-EXEMPT FULL TIME

STATEMENT OF JOB: Apache Behavioral Health Services (ABHS)Ā Non-Emergency Transportation (NEMT) DriverĀ is responsible forĀ safely transporting clients to and from the dialysis center and other approved medical appointments. This position ensuresĀ timely, courteous, and reliable transportation whileĀ maintainingĀ compliance with agency policies, tribal regulations, and applicable state/federal requirements.Ā This position serves as a dual role with responsibilities of providing transportation and working with facilities technicians to support agency needs.Ā Ā

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ā
- Provide safe,Ā timely, and courteous transportation for clients to and from the dialysis center and other scheduled medical facilities.Ā
- Assist passengers entering and exiting vehicles, including those with mobility devices (wheelchairs, walkers, etc.),Ā ensuring safety at all times.Ā
- Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections; report any maintenance or safety issues to the Fleet SupervisorĀ immediately.Ā
- MaintainĀ accurateĀ transportation logs, mileage records, and client sign-in/out sheets asĀ required.Ā
- Follow established schedules and routes whileĀ remainingĀ flexible for emergencies or schedule changes.Ā
- Comply withĀ HIPAA and agency confidentiality policies when handling client information.Ā
- Ensure vehicles are clean, fueled, and stocked with required safety/emergency equipment.Ā
- Adhere to all traffic laws, safety guidelines, and agency driving policies.Ā
- Attend requiredĀ trainings, certifications, and safety meetings.Ā
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the transportation program.Ā
- Responsible for cleaning, sweeping and buffing floors, cleaning walls, light switches/fixtures, windowĀ blindsĀ and doors. Shampooing rugs, washing glass (windows exterior/interior).Ā Ā
- SetĀ upĀ arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as banquets and meetings.Ā Ā
- Dispose of garbage properly.āÆDailyāÆempty all garbage receptacles and replace liner. Clean and pick up litter around the building and parking lot.Ā
- CleanāÆand sanitize kitchen area, replace paper towels, and refill hand soap.Ā
- Move and trim lawn and shrubs, use lawn mowers and hand/power trimmers and clear debris from walkway and grounds.Ā
- Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas, using snowāÆshovels,āÆand spread snow melting chemicals.Ā

- Move heavyāÆfurniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks.Ā
- Unlock and lock the main entry gate daily and check security fence for damages or maintenanceĀ
- Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and ABHS property and conduct annual inventory or as requestedĀ fromĀ supervisor for reporting purposes.Ā
- Notify supervisor concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operatingĀ system.Ā
- Develop andĀ maintainĀ scheduleĀ to ensure all ABHS vehicles are clean andĀ maintainedĀ as needed.Ā

- Perform basic auto inspection dailyĀ regardingĀ tire pressure, oil and fluid level checks, and vehicle damage (interior/exterior).Ā
- Demonstrates ability to work productively and harmoniously with supervisors and co-workers.Ā
- EffectivelyĀ utilizesĀ work time to ensure all assignments are completed inĀ thorough,Ā timelyĀ manner and follow through on all commitments.Ā
- Participation in all required ABHS training.āÆĀ
- Reports/attendsĀ work inĀ timelyĀ manner. Must be reliable and communicate directly with supervisor in all mattersāÆof attendance.Ā
- Perform otherāÆtasksāÆasāÆdirected by the supervisor.āÆ

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GEDĀ required.Ā
- Valid Arizona Driverās License (Class D) with a clean driving record; CDL preferred but notĀ required.Ā
- At least 1 year of professional driving experience (medical or non-emergency transport preferred).Ā
- Knowledge of local and tribal roads andĀ abilityĀ to navigate safely.Ā
- Ability to lift andĀ assistĀ passengers with mobility aids up to 50 lbs.Ā
- MustĀ demonstrateāÆinterpersonal skills withĀ anĀ ability to work effectively with a wide range of people, teams, managers, supervisors.Ā
- Current First Aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain withinĀ 90 daysĀ of hire.Ā
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.Ā
- Ability to pass all pre-employment testing, including, but not limited to,āÆfingerprint clearance, drug testing and background check

Working Conditions:Ā
- Driving for extended periods in various weather conditions.Ā
- AssistingĀ passengers with limited mobility, including use of wheelchair lifts andĀ securementĀ devices.Ā
- Exposure to potential medical emergencies during transport (training provided).Ā
Ā
Physical Requirements:Ā
- Ability to sit forĀ long periodsĀ while driving.Ā
- Frequent bending, lifting, andĀ assistingĀ passengers.Ā
- Ability toĀ operate a vehicle safely at all times.Ā
