Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dependable Mechanic to join our team and support the maintenance and repair of a diverse fleet of approximately 500 vehicles and pieces of equipment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring our fleet remains safe, reliable, and operational to support daily construction and paving operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong diagnostic and repair skills, a commitment to workplace safety, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. This is a year-round position offering the opportunity to work on a wide variety of trucks, heavy equipment, trailers, and small engines while contributing to the success of our field operations.



$500 sign on bonus to be paid $250 after 30 days and $250 after 60 days of full-time employment.

GENERAL SUMMARY & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS*

  • Maintain and repair as needed a fleet of about 500 items (pickup trucks, F450 flat beds, tri-axle dump trucks, tag trailers, pavers, rollers/compactors, skid steers, compressors, loaders, backhoes and all small equipment)
  • Abide by company lock out/tag out procedures
  • Must provide and maintain a personal set of basic mechanic tools.
  • Document all repairs on repair order electronically
  • Track/turn in all paperwork on a daily basis, prohibits unsafe equipment from being operated or leaving the premises
  • Support operations by setting up crew vehicles with all necessary equipment and materials for the following day
  • Fuel and prepare vehicles and equipment as needed to support daily operations.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and efficient shop

PREPARATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Class A or Class B license preferred
  • Medical DOT card
  • OSHA training
  • MA & RI Hoisting license preferred (we can help you get one if you don't have it already!)
  • Be able to lift, carry, push, pull, and stooping-bending up to 80lbs several hours a day
  • Be able to stand or sit several hours a day
  • Must abide by all safety policies
  • Any ASE certifications
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Shop Manager
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn new skills, technologies, and repair techniques.
  • Dependable, punctual, and committed to maintaining a consistent work schedule.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work collaboratively with shop personnel, drivers, operators, and field crews.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly document repairs and communicate maintenance needs.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of accountability.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills and technologies.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to safely perform job duties in all weather conditions, including prolonged exposure to extreme heat, cold, humidity, and inclement weather.
  • Year round position, must be available weekends.
