THE OPPORTUNITY

James Lane Mechanical, a proud member of the Fidelity family of companies, is seeking an experienced fire sprinkler professional to lead our Fire Sprinkler Division. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who knows water-based systems from the layout table to the final flow test — and who wants ownership of how the work gets planned, staffed, and installed.

As the company’s designated RME-G license holder, you will serve as the technical authority for every sprinkler project we touch: setting the standard for design and installation quality, driving compliance with Texas State Fire Marshal requirements and NFPA standards, and building a division that contractors and building owners across North Texas trust to get it right the first time.

If you are ready to move beyond running a single job and into shaping how an entire division executes, we want to talk to you.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Hold the license of record. Serve as the designated Texas RME-G for all company fire protection operations, keeping credentials in good standing with the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
  • Lead installation projects end to end. Own sprinkler projects from kickoff through closeout — layout, hydraulic calculations, permitting, submittals, field installation, testing, and final acceptance.
  • Drive the planning. Sequence field work, plan material procurement and crew loading, and build installation schedules alongside project managers and field superintendents so jobs land on time and on budget.
  • Own design and plan review. Review system layouts, hydraulic calculations, and shop drawings against NFPA 13, 14, and 20 and local AHJ requirements before anything leaves the office.
  • Set the technical standard. Provide direction and mentorship to sprinkler fitters, apprentices, and designers — raising the technical bar of the crew as the division grows.
  • Represent the company. Build strong working relationships with clients, general contractors, inspectors, and regulatory agencies — and be the voice that resolves technical questions in the field.

WHAT YOU BRING

Required

  • Current Texas RME-G license in good standing — or a current Texas Professional Engineer (P.E.) license with willingness to complete the required statutes exam.
  • NICET Level III or IV certification in Water-Based Systems Layout.
  • At least 6 years of experience in fire protection sprinkler design and/or installation.
  • Strong working knowledge of NFPA 13, 14, 20, and other applicable codes and standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents and coordinate installations with other trades.

Also Helpful

  • NICET Level IV, or progress toward it.
  • Experience with hydraulic calculation and layout software (AutoSPRINK, HydraCAD, or similar).
  • Project experience in healthcare, education, government, or data and telecom facilities.
  • Prior experience leading crews, mentoring apprentices, or building out a service or install team.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Competitive pay and a benefits package built for people who plan to stay.
  • Health and wellness: comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans covering you and your family, including free preventive care and affordable prescription options.
  • Life and disability insurance: company-paid life and disability coverage, with options to enhance your benefits.
  • Retirement savings: 401(k) with a generous company match and immediate vesting.
  • Paid time off: paid holidays plus a PTO plan that grows with your years of service.
  • Career advancement: education assistance and professional development to help you grow your license, certifications, and career.
  • Extra perks: flexible spending accounts, employee discounts, and 24/7 confidential support through our Employee Assistance Program.
