Job Description
You will provide guidance and assistance to the shop floor employees, supervisors and managers within all departments of the organization and will be responsible for promoting a safe and healthy workplace for all employees, contractors, customers, and visitors and maintaining daily environmental compliance. You will implement plans based on recent safety audit results and will ensure that our Health and Safety management system is implemented to meet legislation requirements. Responsibilities also will include training employees in environmental, health and safety management best practices, assisting with hazard identification and control, development of safe work procedures, identifying, developing, and delivering safety training, providing day-to-day guidance and expert advice on a variety of topics.Â
Demonstrate leadership and provides direction to line management regarding the development and implementation of the organization’s environment, health and safety management system.Â
Provide on-floor guidance and mentorship to line management regarding safe work practices and behaviors.Â
Provide on-floor guidance and support for environmental compliance regarding waste management, Non-Title V Air permit conditions, and water discharge, and other programs as needed.Â
Complete and apply Hazard and Risk Assessments.Â
Incident investigation management including the identification of Root Cause Analysis and the suggestion of Corrective and Preventative actions.Â
Management of occupational injury claims including return to work planning.Â
Management OSHA 300-300A logs.Â
Perform audits on the organization’s Health and Safety Management System.Â
Conduct and facilitate employee orientations and training.Â
Maintain records of employee safety training, and the efficacy of the programs.Â
Plan, organize, implement, oversee, and provide technical assistance for projects to resolve safety issues and reduce the risk of injury and occupational illness.Â
Keep abreast of latest development in the field of OSHA management systems by reviewing technical publications, attending technical conferences or professional society meetings, and discussion with industry representatives.Â
Provide technical environment, health, and safety informational support for employees and management.Â
Identify company safety, health or environmental compliance issues and create appropriate solutions.Â
Coordinate with management/Human Resources to ensure that unsafe employee behavior is corrected in a timely manner.Â
Work with new products and procedures to identify potential issues and ensure ongoing safety.Â
Circulate health, safety, and environmental awareness materials.Â
Qualifications
Required:Â
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Occupational Safety, Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science or a certificate in Health and Safety or an equivalent education and experienceÂ
- Minimum of two (2) years of Environment, Health and Safety experience in an industrial/manufacturing environmentÂ
- Strong knowledge of current OSHA and EPA laws and regulationsÂ
- Strong knowledge of state Environmental laws and regulationsÂ
- Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001Â
- Proficiency using Microsoft OfficeÂ
- Effective people skills, including negotiation and ability to influence without authorityÂ
- Inductive reasoning skills to create workplace safety resolutionsÂ
- Ability to identify developmental needs of employees and to provide coaching, mentoring, and other helpÂ
- Strong morals and ethics, along with a commitment to safetyÂ
- Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organizationÂ
- Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments, local and government safety agencies.
Preferred:Â
- Professional designation such as CSP, ASP, GSP, CIH or a similar certificationÂ
- OSHA 30-hour training for General IndustryÂ
- HazWoper certificationÂ
- DOT certificationÂ
- RCRA certificationÂ
- Experience in gathering and compilation of Health, Safety, and Environmental data and report preparationÂ
