Salary: Starting $17.00 per hour, commensurate with experience
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 40 Hr. Work Week, Schedule to be assigned
POSITION SUMMARY
First point of contact for patients arriving at the Midtown Clinic and for patients calling in. Responsible for all check-in and check-out processes of patients. Will schedule all in-house appointments, tests, and procedures for patients in office and over the phone.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
- Greets patients in a prompt and courteous manner, provides support and guidance as needed, and maintains a positive customer service environment
- Obtains completed patient forms and signed acknowledgement of receiving copies of office policies and legally required documents
- Updates patient demographic and payment-related information
- Performs insurance benefit verification
- Collects monies due for patient visits (e.g., co-pay, deductible, co-insurance, self-pay) and refers to the Billing department when appropriate
- Scans patient registration documents and insurance cards into patient’s electronic health record
- Checks patients in and out for appointments
- Answers telephone, schedules appointments, directs/transfers calls to appropriate departments
- Performs daily balancing of payment batch
- Sort and distribute faxes and other patient correspondence
- Monitors provider schedules and organizes patient flow
- Maintains clean, orderly reception area and lobby
- Assists with scanning and indexing of documents into the EMR
- Participates in clinic process improvement activities and team meetings to ensure efficient operations

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Certificates & Licenses:
- N/A
Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
Experience:
- One to two years medical office experience preferred.
- EHR experience preferred (we use eClinicalWorks)
- Microsoft Office experience a plus
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
- Customer service concepts
- Payer regulations and requirements related to insurance including verifying eligibility and determining Good Faith Estimates
- Grammar, spelling and punctuation
- Medical terminology, office procedures and documentation principles
- HIPPA guidelines and procedures
Skilled in:
- Operating a computer, scanner, card readers, headsets, telephone and copy machine
- Answering a multi-line phone system
- Customer service and professionalism
- Accuracy in data entry and attention to detail
Ability to:
- Project a pleasant and professional image
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, staff and other involved with patient care
- Identify problems and recommend solutions
- To prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
