Job Description:

Kansas Health Science Center- KansasCOM is seeking an Admissions Counselor to join its enrollment management team. Under the direction of the Director of Admissions, the Admission Counselor assists in the attainment of student recruitment goals and increasing overall diversity for KHSC. A successful candidate will be articulate, results driven, dynamic and mission driven to support the alignment of student recruitment and culture at KHSC. Admissions Counselors will be responsible for supporting all areas of student recruitment from successfully marketing the program to qualifying and facilitating the enrollment process. Admission Counselors contribute to the overall team by performing other duties as needed/assigned including administrative tasks (i.e., filing, preparing documentation). They promote KHSC-KansasCOM as a nurturing, student-focused environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Attends virtual and in-person recruiting events for KansasCOM.
  • Cultivates relationships with prospective students, focused on the highest levels of customer service.
  • Assists with the planning and execution of recruiting and other outreach events.
  • Plays key role as a point of contact and representative of the COM on all interview days, whether on-campus or virtual.
  • Conducts the application review and selection processes while adhering to all policies and procedures.
  • Interfaces with the Admissions Committee when appropriate.
  • Maintains accurate, informative, and timely communications with internal and external constituents and students.
  • Plays a key role in institutional data integrity and reporting through their use of the institutional databases.
  • Assists with the development and administration of overall Admissions protocols and communications.
  • Represent KHSC-KansasCOM nation-wide at a variety of national and regional medical school fairs.
  • Articulates the mission of KansasCOM in accordance with established values and expectations to prospective students and other representatives in the community. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of KHSC-KansasCOM.
     

Position Requirements:

  • Demonstrated poise, competence, and professionalism in addressing groups of people.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills, be detail-oriented, a self-starter, and able to work independently and/or under minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, balance multiple projects in stressful situations and with frequent interruption; yet, able to perform assignments accurately, attain deadlines, and maintain positive relations.
  • Critical-thinking and detail orientation to ensure best practices in established processes.
  • Excellent follow-through skills required.
  • Requires ability to maintain computerized record keeping systems.
  • Must have excellent oral/written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with prospective students and other departments on campus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Education, Public Relations or related degree preferred.
  • Two years of admissions/student recruitment and/or student affairs experience in a health professional or academic institution of higher learning preferred.
  • Experience in marketing in a higher education setting a plus.
  • Experience using a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite including ability to utilize word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Must maintain on-going, insurable driving record.
  • Availability to travel, approximately 35% of time, with heaviest concentration occurring in the fall and spring.

Working Conditions:

Normal office environment, but the position does require travel.
