About the Role:
The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) plays a critical role in supporting healthcare teams by safely administering medications to patients in various care settings across the United States. Minimum Qualifications:
- Current certification as a Certified Medication Aide (CMA) recognized by the state of employment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a state-approved medication aide training program.
- Basic understanding of medication administration principles and safety protocols.
- Ability to pass background checks and meet health screening requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working as a CMA or in a similar healthcare support role.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients and healthcare team members.
- Additional certifications related to patient care or medication administration.
- Experience working in long-term care, assisted living, or rehabilitation facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Administer prescribed medications to patients according to established protocols and under the supervision of licensed nursing staff.
- Monitor patients for side effects or adverse reactions and report any concerns to the nursing team promptly.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of medication administration, including dosages, times, and patient responses.
- Assist in educating patients and their families about medication schedules and potential side effects as appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and facility regulations regarding medication handling and administration.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to support overall patient care plans and communicate any changes in patient condition.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of medication storage areas to ensure safety and accessibility.
