About the Role:
The PRN Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant plays a critical role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care on an as-needed basis within diverse healthcare settings. This position requires the ability to assess, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic conditions while collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. The role demands flexibility and adaptability to provide care across various clinical environments, ensuring continuity and excellence in patient treatment. The practitioner will be responsible for educating patients and their families, promoting health maintenance, and supporting preventive care initiatives. Ultimately, this position contributes significantly to improving patient outcomes and enhancing the overall efficiency of healthcare delivery.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) license in the United States.
- Certification from an accredited NP or PA program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Minimum of one year clinical experience in a relevant healthcare setting.
- Ability to work independently and manage patient care effectively in a PRN role.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced certifications such as ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support).
- Experience in primary care, urgent care, or specialty clinics.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and telehealth platforms.
- Strong background in patient education and chronic disease management.
- Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced, multidisciplinary healthcare environments.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including history taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic testing.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings and evidence-based guidelines.
- Prescribe medications and therapies within the scope of practice and monitor patient responses to treatment.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and facilitate referrals to specialists as needed.
- Document patient encounters accurately and maintain compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
- Provide patient education on disease management, medication adherence, and lifestyle modifications.
- Respond promptly to urgent patient needs and adapt to varying clinical demands in a PRN capacity.
