Field Service Technician

Job Summary

Lift Solutions, Inc. has been a trusted leader in the material handling industry for more than 40 years. Through fleet management, custom AutoCAD design, and technical service, we help keep industrial operations running efficiently.

We are seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to provide on-site maintenance, diagnostics, and repair services for forklifts, cranes, excavators, and other heavy industrial equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel experience, along with a commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and customer service.

Requirements: Valid U.S. driver's license and successful completion of a background check and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair forklifts, cranes, excavators, and other industrial equipment.

  • Troubleshoot diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, transmissions, braking systems, suspension components, and mobile HVAC systems.

  • Use digital multimeters, voltmeters, diagnostic equipment, OEM schematics, and manufacturer-specific software to identify equipment faults and determine appropriate repairs.

  • Perform equipment repairs and overhauls, including brake repairs, suspension service, tire replacement, component replacement, and custom component assembly.

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and inspections to reduce equipment downtime and extend service life.

  • Safely operate hand, power, air, impact, and welding tools as required.

  • Maintain accurate digital records of inspections, diagnostics, repairs, parts, and services performed.

  • Communicate professionally with customers regarding equipment condition, diagnostic findings, recommended repairs, and service requirements.

  • Follow all company and customer safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Previous experience as a heavy equipment, agricultural equipment, forklift, or dealership technician preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, transmissions, and mobile HVAC systems.

  • Proficiency with modern industrial and automotive diagnostic software.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and OEM technical schematics.

  • Must provide a complete set of basic mechanic's hand tools up to 1-1/4", standard air and impact tools, and a digital multimeter. Specialty tools will be provided as needed.

  • Ability to work independently in a field-service environment and safely lift up to 50 pounds regularly.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues and recommended repairs to customers.

  • Preferred: Experience with forklift systems, welding, fabrication, or specialized industrial equipment.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • 1–2 years of related experience preferred.

  • Relevant technical training, certifications, or additional industry experience are a plus.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

  • Ability to safely work in environments with exposure to hot and cold temperatures, noise, dust, solvents, fuels, battery acid, and other industrial substances.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.

  • Ability to inspect vehicles and equipment to identify maintenance and repair requirements.

  • Ability to stand and work for six or more hours per day.

  • Sufficient dexterity and grip strength to operate tools and equipment, including repetitive hand and wrist movements.

  • Adequate binocular vision to inspect equipment and completed repair work.

  • Ability to bend, stretch, kneel, squat, and work in various positions necessary to perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
