This temporary position is located at 4312 District Drive, Raleigh - Wake County with the Department of Department of Health and Human Services.   

 
Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $24.53 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).  
 
Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification.  The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities listed within this vacancy announcement will be used only as management preferences and will be used to screen for the most qualified pool of applicants.  

Management Preferences:  

  • This is a full-time position in the Autopsy unit
  • This individual will assist with body management, including receipt/release of decedents with funeral homes/transporters
  • Clean/disinfect the autopsy facility and associated equipment per protocols
  • Perform radiographic procedures on bodies
  • Assist the pathologist in the proper packaging and labeling of material to preserve the chain of custody evidence
  • Ensure proper equipment and instruments are available for autopsy procedures Other administrative tasks as requested
  • This is a non-cutting position

Minimum Education and Experience

Associate degree in the biological/anatomical, forensic, mortuary/funeral, or criminal justice sciences from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
