Job Title: Product Engineer

Department: Engineering / Product Management

Location:  Pacific, Missouri (onsite)

SUMMARY

The Product Engineer oversees the processes and procedures for qualifying new engine components and new sources for engine components. They may also access, create or revise prints packages and database information for new sensor applications and new vehicles. This includes determining the most appropriate sensor for each application, based on vehicle data, sensor characteristics, and manufacturing information. Other responsibilities include the evaluation of engine components on vehicles, procedures and specifications for sensor testing, modification of existing applications where appropriate, support for the manufacturing area, and design of sensor subcomponents.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Operates test equipment for new engine components and new suppliers.
  2. Creates and revises prints and database information for new sensor applications and new vehicles
  3. Completes the supporting documentation for the print packages, which includes the BOM's, the print checklists, and the wiring diagrams, schematics, custom fabrication drawings
  4. Creates schematic and system drawings using schematic CAD program
  5. Modifies existing applications where needed, initiates modifications when needed
  6. Supports the manufacturing area on sensor design, packaging, and test issues
  7. Continual improvement in meeting the timing requirements and accuracy for the above items

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Evaluates engine components on vehicles
  2. Develops and maintains a system for tracking timing and backlog
  3. Develops designs for new sensor subcomponents where needed
  4. Participates in the development of manufacturing systems for sensor subcomponents
  5. Develops tests, specifications, and procedures for engine components
  6. Because of the changing nature of our business, this job description will inevitably change. The employee will, from time to time, be required to undertake other activities of a similar nature that fall within his/her capabilities as directed by management.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Four-year technical degree or experience judged to be equivalent
  2. Familiar with Excel, Access, and Word, Autodesk Software
  3. Good electrical/electronic background with component level troubleshooting experience
  4. Previous experience with vehicles and engines
  5. Flexibility to handle a variety of work assignments
  6. Previous experience with engine components is preferred
