Project Engineer

Hughes Brothers Construction is now hiring! We are a heavy civil contractor specializing in large site infrastructure, underground utilities and roadway construction throughout Central Florida. The Project Engineer is responsible for assisting with management of multiple site development and heavy civil construction projects throughout the Central Florida area. This position is responsible for the supervision and documentation of projects from contract award through final completion.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Project Manager in all aspects of document control, cost control, quality, scheduling and safety.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining the project documentation filing system.
  • Responsible for requesting, reviewing, submitting, tracking, and expediting project material submittals and shop drawings for review and approval.
  • Ensure approved submittals are distributed to appropriate parties in a timely manner and maintained in project management file.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate and up-to-date utility line locates.
  • Generate RFI’s and track through submission, review, and distribution to appropriate personnel.
  • Assist with preparation, submittal, and tracking of all necessary permits/clearances required for the project.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date project schedules.
  • Attend meetings with Project Manager and generate meeting minutes as required.
  • Review daily timecards and monitor daily work activities for tracking of production and scheduling.
  • Manage the flow of information between the Owner, Engineer, Subcontractors, Vendors, and Project Team as appropriate.
  • Assist with preparation of monthly project pay applications and change order processing.
  • Attend final walk through and create/track punch list items through successful completion.
  • Coordinate the project close-out documentation process and ensure completion in an organized and timely manner.
  • Coordinate with Clients, Engineers, Subcontractors, and Vendors daily.
  • Assist the Project Manager with other functions as may be necessary for successful completion of projects.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and planning skills.
  • Computer proficient (programs include Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, HCSS, AGTEK, Bluebeam).
  • Previous experience with Site Development and Heavy Civil Construction preferred (Earthwork, Utility Installation, Roadway Infrastructure).
  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management a plus.
