Description

Treater Operator / Packaging Operators work closely with the Plant Operations Manager and is a individual that will understand many aspects of the seed corn production.  It can consist of treating seed, packaging seed, warehouse storing and seed inventory and general maintenance tasks. This position can include shift work and weekends during critical times if necessary.  Other essential job functions may include but not limited to:

  •  Performing work activities safely and in compliance with company QMS program
  •  Application of appropriate tags and/or labels to seed packages as applicable
  •  Operate seed treating and packaging equipment
  •  Accurately mix seed treatment chemicals and set chemical application rates so customer requirements are met
  •  Thoroughly cleaning all treatment and bagging equipment between runs in order to maintain product integrity
  •  Ensuring accurate reporting of inventory activity including counts, production location and timely submission of paperwork 
  •  Accurate completion of all QMS records
  •  Lifting and stacking materials up to 65 lbs. 
  •  Standing to fill and close packaged product for extended periods of time
  •  Successfully pass the forklift training and receive an operator’s certificate
  •  Safely climb stairs and/or ladders to monitor and adjust equipment
  •  Preforming preseason maintenance to prevent downtime during treating / bagging season
  •  Being flexible to assist in other areas of the location as needs arise
  •  Maintaining a neat, clean, and organized work area

Requirements

  • Agricultural background is beneficial
  • Computer skills beneficial, advanced skills preferred
  • Understanding of seed production is beneficial
  • Ability to obtain a Seed Treating License is required
  • Excellent communications skills with positive attitude

  • Attentive to detail and accuracy
  • Well organized
  • Show up on time and be dependable
  • Must pass a background and drug test
