Cenveo is a leading North American manufacturer of envelopes with over 100 years of experience and approximately 30 billion envelopes manufactured annually. We are hiring immediately for an experienced Purchasing Agent for its envelope manufacturing facility in Williamsburg, PA.

Job Summary

The Purchasing Agent supports the procurement team by handling day‑to‑day purchasing activities. This role ensures the timely acquisition of raw materials, supplies, and equipment needed for manufacturing operations. Accuracy, organization, and effective communication with vendors and internal departments are key to success.

 

Pay & Schedule

 

  • $24 -- 26/hr (depending on experience)
  • Day Shift position (hours to be discussed with Hiring Manager)
  • Schedule: Mon--Fri; occasional Saturdays

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)

  • Process purchase orders and maintain accurate ERP records
  • Monitor deliveries to ensure timely arrival of materials
  • Communicate with vendors on pricing, availability, and order status
  • Resolve discrepancies with invoices, shipments, or quality issues
  • Maintain documentation for compliance and audits
  • Coordinate with production, warehouse, and maintenance teams to support operations
  • Manage raw material inventory levels and place special orders as needed
  • Provide administrative support to the purchasing team and prepare reports
  • Analyze quotations, evaluate vendor capabilities, solicit bids, and develop alternate sources
  • Negotiate with and select vendors to secure quality materials and services at favorable terms
  • Verify accuracy of receiving reports and review/approve requisitions and purchase orders
  • Ensure adherence to purchasing policies and procedures
  • Coordinate disposal of waste and recyclable materials as required
  • Work overtime when necessary to meet business needs

Qualifications
Job Requirements
 
High School diploma or equivalent
3+ years purchasing or clerical experience in manufacturing
4+ years progressive responsibility in supply chain, forecasting, and planning
Excellent organization and problem solving skills with strong attention to detail
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards)
Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills for working with vendors, customers, and internal teams
Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and lead cross functional teams
Demonstrated initiative, urgency, and accountability in a fast paced manufacturing environment
Experience coordinating across departments, plants, and functional areas to ensure production and service quality
Comfortable interacting with all levels of management, sales, and external vendors
 
Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions
 
Primarily office-based, with regular time spent on the production floor where exposure to dust, noise, temperature changes, and other manufacturing conditions may occur
Must follow all applicable safety rules and procedures
Requires periods of prolonged sitting as well as regular standing, walking, reaching, climbing, and lifting to 35 lbs.
Manual dexterity, hand/finger coordination, and color vision are essential for handling materials and tasks accurately
