Job Description:Ā Ā TheĀ Student SuccessĀ CoordinatorĀ will work toĀ assistĀ studentsĀ in an effort toĀ improve student retention, persistence, and graduation rates.Ā Ā Through providing academic advising for incoming students and early intervention measures, theĀ coordinatorĀ will have a targeted focus onĀ student success.Ā Ā ThisĀ will help to coordinateĀ initiativesĀ to improve student retention and persistence inĀ UC OnlineĀ programs.Ā Ā TheĀ CoordinatorĀ will collaborate withĀ UCĀ OnlineĀ teamĀ to design and implement retention initiativesĀ and communicate with facultyĀ and staffĀ regardingĀ student concerns.Ā Ā Additionally, the coordinator will work with returning students on academic and social concerns and serve as the academic advisor for returning students who haveĀ been assigned to theĀ Coordinator.Ā

Job Requirements:Ā Ā CandidatesĀ must have the character andĀ personality to relate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and the community.Ā Ā Applicants must have aĀ bachelor’s degreeĀ and at least 2Ā years of experience in student advising, recruitment, retention, or other related student services areas.Ā Ā Good oral and written communication skills and an understanding of college programs and proceduresĀ regardingĀ advisement, registration, and financial aid is desirable.Ā Ā Ā

Key Duties and Responsibilities:Ā Ā 

Ā 

TheĀ Student Success Coordinator willĀ Ā 

  • Coordinate new studentĀ orientation programs forĀ onlineĀ students.Ā Ā 

  • Establish plans of action to address negative attrition/retention patterns.Ā 

  • Prepare and present retention updates and reports.Ā Ā Ā 

  • IdentifyĀ and develop student success indicators for purposes of monitoring,Ā evaluatingĀ and reporting on student academic progress, persistence, attrition/retentionĀ and graduation rates.Ā 

  • Maintain data and contact students in jeopardy of withdrawing or failing school.Ā 

  • Provide individual and group Student Success Skills sessions/workshops.Ā 

  • Communicate with students on a regular basis in-person, telephone, mail, and e-mail toĀ facilitateĀ retention activities.Ā 

  • Publicize andĀ disseminateĀ student support materials to students.Ā 

  • Build andĀ maintainĀ an awareness of current trends and best practices in retention and student success areas and integrate such knowledge intoĀ UC OnlineĀ programs and services.Ā 

  • Coordinate assessment of all program areas of responsibility.Ā Ā 

  • Provide program instruction and guidance from enrollment to graduation.Ā 

  • Help students sustain motivation and progressĀ toĀ graduation.Ā 

  • RecommendĀ appropriate studentĀ services.Ā 

  • Engage and educate students throughout their academic program.Ā Ā 

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.Ā
