Position Summary

The Facilities 2nd Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing evening facilities operations and leading the second-shift Facilities team in maintaining a clean, safe, healthy, and welcoming environment. This position provides daily supervision, training, work assignments, and operational support to ensure established procedures, safety requirements and quality standards are consistently followed. The Supervisor also coordinates facilities support for programs, events, and special projects; responds to building-related needs and emergencies; and communicates relevant issues to the Facilities Manager to promote efficient and uninterrupted operations. This is a full-time, benefited position scheduled Monday through Friday 2:00pm to 10:00 pm.



Major Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)



  • With direction from the Facilities Manager, provide daily supervision to the 2nd shift Facilities crew.
  • Assist Facilities Manager in training 2nd shift Facilities staff.
  • Lead 2nd shift Facilities staff through projects and event set ups.
  • Maintain a clean, healthful and safe environment by sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, polishing floors, surfaces and walls, removing trash and recyclables, cleaning windows inside and assigned areas on a daily basis or as needed, taking great care to avoid damage to artwork.
  • Clean, sanitize and restock restrooms.
  • Maintain lighting of public and non-public areas of Institute. Change light bulbs and tubes. Use ladders and manual lift as necessary.
  • Assist setting up and breakdown of rooms for meetings and special events. Move furniture as needed. Carry out work orders for various tasks and building projects as assigned.
  • Maintain all cleaning equipment. Empty dust bags and change filters.
  • Perform carpet and floor maintenance. Strip and wax wood floors, vacuum, shampoo, remove spots from carpeting.
  • Stage scaffolding using electric lift.
  • Assist grounds with shoveling when required.
  • Answer visitor questions as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Minimum Qualifications

Education, Training, and Skills

  • Ability to read, write, add, subtract, follow instructions, and read instruments and similar devices.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

 

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ custodial / housekeeping experience required.
  • Minimum 1-year supervisory experience required.

Work Environment

Work will be performed in an office environment, museum spaces, mechanical spaces, and outdoors. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate but can be high. Weather outdoors can be inclement.
