Our blood lab is hiring for a full-time Distribution Coordinator, variable schedule

 

Job Status: Full Time 

Schedule: First Shift, 6:00am-2:30pm or 6:30a-3pm, Tues - Sat 

Location: ConnectLife Headquarters at 4444 Bryant and Stratton Way, Williamsville, NY 14221

Pay: $17.50 per hour, plus $2.00/hr shift differential when working outside of the time frame of 6:30am-6:30pm

 

Job Summary

Answer calls or electronic orders for blood products from client hospitals.  Fills all orders and maintains & manages blood product inventories.  Inspects all blood products for obvious quality characteristics per the SOP.

 

Education Requirements:

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

 

Experience:

 

  • Prior experience in a customer service role preferred.
  • Experience in shipping, receiving, or distribution preferred.
  • Inventory control experience preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills required.
  • Must have general computer competencies (i.e., Microsoft Office, data entry, fax/copier).
  • Must be detail oriented and highly organized with the ability to multi-task, able to maintain focus and accuracy through interruptions and emotional stress.
  • Understanding of medical terminology preferred.

 

Required Physical Demands:

 

  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and bending.
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing up to 25 lbs.        Occasional up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional reaching forward, lateral, and overhead.
  • Continuously receiving detailed information through written, electronic, and oral communication.
  • Continuous clarity of vision at near and/or far distances.

 

Essential Job Functions:

 

  1. Monitors phone/fax system throughout the work shift to assure that any/all calls from hospitals are answered in an immediate manner.
  2. Fills all blood product orders in a timely manner. Always lets customer know what to expect in terms of blood availability and estimated time of arrival.
  3. Ships all products in the computer system to ensure traceability.  Inspects all products for acceptability and packs blood products for shipment per SOP.  Arranges the transport of blood product to hospital.
  4. Receives Import shipments that arrive and places them on the correct shelves/bins in the storage units in the correct date order and blood type.
  5. Monitors blood product inventory to assure that products are on the proper shelves, are in correct date order and of adequate quantities. Alerts the supervisor or manager if problems or shortages are observed.
  6. Label, box and prepare shipments of recovered plasma products.
  7. Process transfers and credits of blood products from hospitals.  
  8. Send units for irradiation in a timely manner to avoid product expiration.
  9. Processes requests for antigen screened units and samples that need to go out for testing.
  10. Check daily activity logs and add imports to activity logs when necessary. 
  11. Monitors the temperature of the blood product storage units. Documents any alarms that occur per SOP.
  12. Adheres to SOPs and follows established blood center SOPs and cGMPs.   Demonstrates and maintains competencies of job duties as assigned.  Completes training and assignments by due date.
  13. Stays in communication by consistently checking emails and mailboxes.  Communicate pending orders and any issues with next shift.
  14. Quarantines and/or discards products based on PDC app and expired products.
  15. Prepares shipping boxes as needed for transport of blood products.  Ensures that they are properly labeled.
  16. Box up biohazard boxes.
