About the Role: The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the Company and assisting with the monthly close process, financial reporting, account reconciliations, fixed asset accounting, and maintenance of accurate financial records. This position works closely with the Accounting Manager, operations and other departments to ensure transactions are properly recorded and reported in accordance with Company policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Essential Duties and Responsibilities: General Accounting • Post journal entries and maintain journal entry log. • Perform monthly bank and balance sheet account reconciliaons. • Maintain the general ledger and supporting schedules. • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes including roll forward of monthly account reconciliations. • Ensure transactions are recorded accurately and timely. • Analyze account activity and investigate variances. Oversee and Support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable • Review coding and account classifications for accuracy. • Assist with vendor statement reconciliations and customer account inquiries. • Support invoice processing and payment activities as needed. • Assist with collections and aging analysis. • Ensures annual 1099 reporting is maintained in ERP. • File Use Sales Tax • Red Dye Fuel Fixed Asset Accounting • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules. • Record asset additions, transfers and disposals. • Assist with physical inventories and fixed asset reconciliations. Audit and Compliance • Assist with annual financial statement audits and other external reviews. • Maintain documentation supporting account balances and transactions. • Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies. • Participate in process improvement initiatives. • Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Experience • Three to five years of accounting experience is preferred. • Public accounting experience is a plus. • Construction, Manufacturing, or project-based accounting experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively. • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and lookup functions. • Experience with accounting software and ERP systems. Preferred Qualifications • Experience with QuickBooks, Microsoft Business Central, or similar ERP systems. • Experience with Construction accounting and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition. • Familiarity with fixed assets, depreciaon schedules, and job costing. • Experience with RAMP Physical Requirements • Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use. • Ability to occasionally lift up-to 20 pounds.
