Fiat Powertrain Technologies of North America, Inc. (a global Brand under our parent company, Iveco Group) is looking for a Technical Compliance Specialist to join the Technical Compliance & Certification team that supports regulatory emission compliance for engines within the regional market. The position works cross‑functionally with product platforms, engineering, and quality teams to interpret regulations, establish compliance requirements, and provide functional guidance to ensure regulatory obligations are met. The role requires foundational experience, independent management of assigned compliance activities, and collaboration in broader compliance efforts. This position salary/exempt and is will be onsite in our new Burr Ridge, IL headquarters!

Duties and Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities

  • Prepare, coordinate, and submit required compliance reports to federal, state, and local regulatory agencies in support of emission compliance, including:
  • Defect and warranty reporting
  • Emission recall campaigns
  • Audits and compliance testing
  • Emission exemptions and labeling
  • Collaborate with functional teams and engineers to support the preparation and maintenance of periodic regulatory reporting for engines and equipment, including:
  • Averaging, Banking and Trading (ABT) programs
  • Transition provisions for equipment manufacturers
  • Annual production reporting

Additional Responsibilities

  • Identify potential regulatory compliance risks and support mitigation strategies to ensure adherence to applicable laws and standards 
  • Support the development, documentation, and maintenance of emission compliance requirements, processes, and procedures 
  • Monitor, track, and document regulatory changes from federal, state, and local agencies and assess impacts on current and future products 
  • Work cross‑functionally with engineering, quality, and product teams to ensure compliance requirements are integrated into product development and lifecycle processes 
  • Prepare and communicate compliance status, progress updates, and open issues to management

Development Areas

  • Participate in, and as appropriate represent Technical Compliance & Certification in technical discussions with customers, suppliers, and industry organizations (e.g. EMA, SAE) 
  • Gain exposure to external regulatory engagement, technical compliance discussions, and cross‑functional decision‑making related to emission regulations

Qualifications

Minimum

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical or scientific field, with three (3) or more years of experience in emission certification, regulatory compliance, or a related technical role

Additional

  • Experience with tracking and interpreting regulatory requirements, including EPA, CARB, and ECCC
  • Experience using regulatory agency submission and reporting systems 
  • Experience with product testing, data review, and technical documentation

Skills

  • Self‑motivated and well organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities 
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across functions and organizational levels
  • Strong problem‑solving and data analysis skills with a structured, methodical approach 
  • Proficient with collaboration and document management tools, including Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Excel

Other

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (up to 10%)

Working conditions

The position has a hybrid work schedule that combines in-office / remote working following FPT’s working arrangement policies.  In-office location is Burr Ridge, IL.

Physical requirements

The position involves computer related tasks and light activity. Ability to accommodate desk sitting within an office environment and lifting 5-10 lbs.
