Job DetailsJob Location: Center Fitness Club - Wilmette, IL 60091Position Type: Part Time Year RoundEducation Level: Not SpecifiedSalary Range: $28.00 - $45.00 HourlyJob Shift: VariousJob Category: RecreationJob Summary: The Group Fitness Instructor role is responsible for leading and instructing the various group exercise classes offered to the members and guests of the Center Fitness Club. This is a PT 3 position, with the benefits listed below Supervisory Responsibilities: None Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Ensure that classes are taught within ACSM, AFAA, and ACE guidelines, preparing and leading all levels of exercise classes designed to improve cardiovascular endurance, muscle tone, and the ability to perform activities of daily living Greet each member and guest by name when they enter and leave the Group Exercise Areas, and assist in facilitating engagement between members when they are in the group exercise areas Arrive at work station 15 minutes in advance, prepare and provide an entertaining, effective, and safe group exercise program for the participants Promote the facility's services to members and guests. Attend all required department continuing education meetings and relevant member appreciation events Design class formats with guidance from the Fitness Manager on music selection, instruction of participants for proper form and technique, and modifying classes to meet all the needs of the participants Provide support with Fitness Manager programming and specialty workshops Motivate members and guests to achieve optimal performance and self-development Remain current in group exercise programming and all job-related certifications by participating in professional organizations, attending conferences, and continuing education Assist with the organization and preventative maintenance of the Group Exercise Areas, stereos, and equipment Willingness to step in and assist with other facility service responsibilities, as may be required, to ensure that the facility delivers upon its Center Fitness Club commitment to excellence Responsible for growing program efficiency, satisfaction, and innovation Work with the Fitness Manager to optimize resources and provider availability, while scheduling programs that meet the diverse needs of members Provide exceptional customer satisfaction by answering inquiries and comments regarding programs through efficient and timely communication Respond to all emergencies according to the Wilmette Park District policies and procedures Represents the Center Fitness Club in a professional, courteous, and enthusiastic manner Perform other related duties as assigned, based on agency needs Actively contribute to the Park District's sustainability goals Safety Responsibilities: Actively support the safety program that will effectively control and reduce accidents Obey all Park District and departmental safety rules, regulations, and procedures established by the Wilmette Park District safety program that are pertinent to the activities conducted at the facility and property Promptly report all unsafe actions, practices, or conditions to the immediate supervisor. Attend and participate in required safety training Responsible for administering minor first aid if needed Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. Education and Experience: At least 21 years of age or older Experience in multiple visual art disciplines, including painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media, ceramics, etc., preferred Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Group Exercise Certification through a nationally accredited association, such as ACE, ACSM, or AFAA, is required for instruction of group exercise classes Specialty Group Exercise certifications through nationally recognized organizations, such as YOGA, Pilates, Pilates Reformer, Schwinn/Jonny G cycling, Zumba, WERQ, are required for specialty group instruction Must possess CPR/First Aid certificates within three months of hiring, provided by the Park District Complete annual District trainings, including, but not limited to, Sexual Harassment Training annually and Mandated Reporter every three years Required Skills/Abilities (Technology, Mathematical, Language): Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions The interpersonal skills necessary to interact with participants in a personable, enthusiastic manner The organizational skills required to coordinate the class program and its implementation effectively The analytical skills required to plan and evaluate programming The creativity to choreograph strength and cardiovascular training techniques that are fun Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or equivalent Two or more years of experience in a related field Physical Requirements/Work Environment: Considerable physical effort. Regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch Must frequently lift or move average-weight material and occasionally lift or move heavy-weight material   PT3 employees working fewer than 600 hours receive the following benefits: individual skating membership; individual pool and beach membership; one beach parking decal; 25% off the resident rate for golf off peak limited play (employee and family); 25% off the resident rate for tennis membership (employee and family); individual fitness membership with 25% off the resident rate for family; 25% off the resident rate for recreational program classes, group lessons, ice private lesson rental, and facility rental (employee and family); and golf and tennis pro shop items at cost + 15%.
