How This Role Impacts Live Oak and its People
Live Oak is on a mission to be America’s small business bank, delivering modern financial services that meet customers where they work. As Business Development Officer for Live Oak Embedded Banking, you will be a front-line revenue leader responsible for driving new partner acquisition and accelerating growth across our embedded banking platform.
This is a highly sales-oriented, quota-carrying role designed for a hunter who consistently beats targets and thrives in complex, consultative sales environments. You will own relationships from first conversation through contract execution, partnering closely with product, engineering, and risk teams to bring modern banking capabilities directly into vertical SaaS platforms.
What You’ll Do at Live Oak
Drive revenue and close deals
Own a quota and consistently deliver against embedded banking revenue targets
Source, qualify, and close new embedded banking partnerships with vertical SaaS platforms, fintechs, and ecosystem partners
Lead end-to-end sales cycles, from prospecting and discovery through negotiation, contracting, and launch
Sell value, not just product
Tailor pitches and solution narratives to specific verticals, using real partner use cases and outcomes
Run high-impact discovery conversations that uncover partner pain points, growth goals, and monetization opportunities
Collaborate closely with prospective partners to design solutions aligned to their workflows, customer journeys, and business models
Lead and coordinate customized demos, proof of concepts (POCs), and pilot programs that clearly demonstrate business value and technical feasibility
Position Live Oak’s embedded banking capabilities as a strategic growth lever, not just a technical integration
Partner cross-functionally to win and launch
Work closely with Solutions Engineering, Product, Risk, Compliance, and Legal to move deals forward efficiently
Help shape deal structures, pricing, and economics that align partner value with Live Oak’s risk and operating model
Ensure smooth handoff from closed deal to implementation with clear success criteria
Build the pipeline and the brand
Maintain a healthy, high-quality pipeline through outbound prospecting, referrals, and ecosystem relationships
Represent Live Oak Embedded Banking at industry events, conferences, and partner meetings
Provide market feedback to inform product roadmap and go-to-market strategy
Maintain a high standard of regulatory awareness including BSA, AML, CIP, and OFAC
Required Experience
5–7+ years of quota-carrying sales or business development experience with a track record of consistently beating quota
Proven experience selling software or platform solutions to vertical SaaS companies
Experience selling to banks and/or operating in highly regulated financial environments
Deep understanding of banking and technology, including APIs, onboarding/KYC/KYB, funds flow, and compliance
Strong negotiation skills and comfort closing complex, multi-stakeholder deals
Exceptional communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
Preferred Experience​
Experience in embedded banking, BaaS, or embedded finance
Background selling enterprise or platform software tied to SMB customers
Familiarity with sponsor bank models and third-party risk management
Existing relationships within fintech, SaaS, or banking ecosystems
Located in North Carolina

The base pay range for this position is $113,080.00 - $154,200.00 per year. Compensation may also include annual bonuses and long-term incentives, subject to various metrics and company policy.
