Wilmington Trust Institutional Services is undergoing a major digital transformation to support rapid business growth and deliver modern, global, client‑centric trust and agency solutions. As part of this strategy, we are seeking a Senior Product Owner to lead the evolution of our Bonds, Cash, and Trading capabilities—with a particular focus on outbound payments, cash management, and multi‑system workflow redesign.

In this role, you will own the product vision and roadmap for core operational capabilities such as bond servicing, cash management, trade execution, and end‑to‑end transaction processing. You will partner closely with business leaders, technology, operations, risk, and compliance to map current‑state workflows, identify breakpoints, stabilize operations, and deliver modern, scalable, client‑focused solutions.

This is a role for someone who thrives in complexity—someone who can decompose large, ambiguous operational problems, design intuitive workflows, and document discovery in a way that is reusable across teams and systems.

Primary Responsibilities:

Product Vision, Strategy & Roadmap

  • Define and manage clear OKRs aligned to Institutional Services’ strategic priorities, using them to guide product direction and measure success.
  • Lead structured discovery of current‑state workflows—including outbound payments, disbursements, and multi‑step approval processes across business lines.
  • Map end‑to‑end processes, controls, and system handoffs; identify where workflows break and why; and translate findings into actionable redesigns.
  • Build and maintain current‑ and future‑state workflow models that support strategic planning and modernization.
  • Create and maintain a prioritized feature roadmap that reflects business architecture, user needs, and long‑term transformation goals.
  • Apply design‑thinking and analytical methods to decompose complex problems and focus teams on outcomes rather than outputs.

Backlog Ownership & Delivery

  • Own and deliver the vision and roadmap for one or more major business technology products.
  • Prioritize and groom the backlog; write clear user stories with Acceptance Test‑Driven Development (ATDD) criteria.
  • Make informed, autonomous decisions within defined guardrails to keep delivery aligned with strategy and risk posture.
  • Partner with technology teams to layer in system constraints, integration considerations, and technical dependencies into workflow designs and user stories.

Bonds, Cash & Trading Domain Leadership

  • Drive the evolution of bond servicing capabilities including securities setup, transfers, payment calculation and distribution, corporate actions, investor recordkeeping, and waterfall accounting.
  • Own payment setup, initiation, order creation, approval workflows, and exception handling within bond servicing.
  • Lead the definition and prioritization of cash and trading capabilities—trust account setup, liquidity optimization, reconciliation, investments, and FX—within a shared enterprise platform.
  • Ensure Institutional Services requirements are met across integrations with core platforms, payment systems, and trading/execution systems to support seamless end‑to‑end transaction flows.

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

  • Serve as the voice of the client—issuer, investor, and internal operations—within delivery teams.
  • Provide clear, timely updates to stakeholders through dashboards, reporting tools, and structured communication.
  • Collaborate with peer Product Owners to align client journeys, dependencies, and cross‑platform workflows.

Risk, Compliance & Platform Accountability

  • Adhere to risk and regulatory standards; identify and escalate issues as needed.
  • Maintain internal control standards, including timely remediation of audit and regulatory findings.
  • Own product accountability for Institutional Services platforms, including user onboarding, entitlement models, upgrade planning, and issue prioritization.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 6 years’ business, analytical, technical and/or product experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 10 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 6 years’ business, analytical, technical and/or product experience.
  • Proven experience in digital product ownership/management within corporate trust, capital markets, transaction banking, or commercial banking.
  • Demonstrated ability to map complex, multi‑system workflows and identify breakpoints in transaction processing environments.
  • Experience conducting structured discovery and translating operational, user, and risk needs into executable designs.
  • Strong design‑thinking skills and the ability to decompose large, ambiguous problems into clear, actionable components.
  • Ability to produce reusable discovery artifacts (process maps, workflow diagrams, control models) for both business and technical audiences.
  • Agile delivery experience with backlog management in Jira or similar tools.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Understanding of debt instruments administered within corporate trust, including bond servicing, trust accounting, cash management, and investment execution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Product management experience with corporate trust platforms, trust accounting systems, bond servicing platforms, custodial networks, clearing processes, core banking platforms, or payment solutions.
  • Exposure to fintech platforms and modern digital ecosystems.
  • Experience designing end‑to‑end solutions across vendor platforms, APIs, and internal systems.

•             Agile or product certifications (CSPO, SAFe POPM, or similar).
