Purpose:
The Biologics Coordinator supports the dermatology clinic by managing all aspects of biologic and specialty dermatology medications, ensuring patients receive timely access to treatment. This role works closely with providers, patients, specialty pharmacies, and insurance companies, and assists with general clinic operations as needed.Â
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:Â
- Submit and track prior authorizations, reauthorizations, appeals, and necessary clinical documentation for dermatology biologics.
- Verify insurance coverage and communicate cost information to patients.
- Coordinate medication orders, shipments, and delivery updates with specialty pharmacies.
- Maintain accurate EMR documentation and track start dates, dosing schedules, and renewal timelines.
- Assist patients with manufacturer copay programs and patient assistance applications.
- Schedule and support in-office biologic injections when applicable.
- Provide patient education on dermatology biologics, treatment expectations, and follow-up requirements.
- Assist around the clinic as needed, including filling in for staff who are out or helping during high-volume times.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Active CMA or RMA Certification from accredited association.
- Successfully completed and passed an accredited Associates Degree program in Medical Assisting or an accredited CMA program.
- Strong communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- EMR proficiency and ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinic setting.
Preferred:Â
- One year clinical experience
- Dermatology experience preferred but not required.Â
- Knowledge of biologics, specialty medications, or insurance authorization processes is a plus.Â
