REPORTS TO:                                                                                                      Communications Director

EMPLOYMENT STATUS:                                                                                     Full-time and Exempt

SUMMARY:

The Communications Coordinator assists the agency with creation, execution, and management of all social media activities and related data reporting while collaborating with related platforms. This position is also responsible for assisting with the creation of digital and print marketing, along with coordinating written and verbal communication with the general public and local media about DBCC's programs and mission. This person also works with special events, partnership events, survivorship and outreach programming, and all other duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA degree in Communications, Visual Communications, Marketing or Graphic Design, and/or related degree and experience in public relations/communications for a non-profit agency.
  • Excellent spoken and written communications skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with Canva and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in community relations, public relations and advocacy.
  • Strong time management skills and a willingness to learn new skills.
  • Knowledge of video editing, comparable programs to perform video creation and editing.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms such as Constant Contact, Giveffect, or MailChimp.
  • Expertise managing social media pages including Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, Threads, TikTok, LinkedIn.
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration and problem-solving skills. Must be a team-player.
  • Broad knowledge or experience with diverse constituencies.
  • Ability to develop and implement multifaceted projects with multiple initiatives.
  • Knowledge of social media management platforms, HeyOrca is preferred.
  • Knowledge of donor relations, customer retention, and customer relationship management is helpful.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

 

WORKING HOURS:

The agency has general operating hours Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm; although necessary work hours may be scheduled on evenings and weekends depending on the needs of the program and agency.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Assist in the creation, management, and utilization of Giveffect to create events, manage ticketing, and all site coordination and responses to/with attendees.
  • Assists the team as needed for marketing needs for the Partnership Oversight Committee.
  • Manage and maintain the social media pages for DBCC, YSIA, and GS in alignment with the content strategies and goals set with the Communications Director (includes the use of a social media scheduling platform, currently HeyOrca).
  • Assists the Communications Director in the execution of the marketing/advertising/media strategy for the DBCC with a focus on implementing marketing strategies for Great Stuff Savvy Resale & Home, inclusive of press release creation, social media, email, direct mail, online, radio, and print advertising.
  • Edit videos as needed – includes a weekly short video for Great Stuff Savvy Resale & Home and other videos as needed.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of DBCC events. Serve on various event committees to provide marketing and communications expertise.
  • Assists the grants team with various tasks, including research and suggests communications tools that improve efficiency/effectiveness (i.e. document editing/sharing, calendaring events, etc.)
  • Attend, and assist as needed at, all major agency events and other functions as appropriate.
  • Represent the agency at various outreach, community, networking, and partnership events.
  • Perform other related duties as requested or required.
