Wilmington School of the Arts is a tuition-free, public charter school. We offer a public school education with the opportunity for project based learning and arts integrated curricula and lessons. WSA infuses music, language, dance, and visual arts into our everyday academic curriculum, while also ensuring that students get their academic needs met by following all NC grade level content standards. Multiple Intelligences are recognized and honored, as we believe each child learns differently. It is our goal to provide each student with a holistic educational experience; creating a safe, accepting, nurturing environment for every child.
Wilmington School of the Arts is seeking a committed, team-oriented First Grade teacher to deliver instruction on our Floral Campus. These classrooms operate with one full time certified teacher, and one paraprofessional/instructional assistant. Wilmington school of the Arts is a small tight knit family feel, with very active families and staff members, so collaboration is important to our team.Â

Basic Requirements:
All academic lead teachers must have a degree in education or in a related area that will qualify for licensure as a teacher by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. They must also have the:
- Ability to constantly monitor the safety and well-being of students, particularly when students are participating in an inclusive activity.
- Ability to motivate students.
- Ability to create and implement lesson plans using curriculum.
- Ability to teach using a project based approach and collaborate on a team.
- Ability to maintain a clean and orderly environment.
- Ability to perform general clerical duties.
- Ability to maintain order and discipline in a classroom.
- Ability to operate common office machines.
- Ability to maintain basic files and records.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments.
