HOSPICE CHAPLAIN

Job Description:

  • Provides spiritual support to patients/caregivers.
  • Develops and maintains a resource group of clergy.
  • Acts as a liaison between hospice and community.
  • Documents records of visits to patients/caregivers.
  • Works collaboratively as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in religion, human services, theology, philosophy and/or be an ordained minister of his/her religious organization with emphasis in counseling.
  • Prefer advanced degree or appropriate certification in hospital or pastoral ministry.
  • Experience and competence in therapeutic methods of working with individuals, groups, and families in crisis, preferably in counseling and death, dying, and grief.
  • Ability to be open, flexible, and ecumenical.
  • Ability to work with IDT as a member as well as the ability to work autonomously.
  • Ability to select, train, and supervise the work of the bereavement volunteers.
