Infection Preventionist / Infection Control Officer (RN) – Cypress Pointe Rehabilitation Center

 

Cypress Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Wilmington, NC is seeking a knowledgeable, organized, and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our leadership team as an Infection Preventionist / Infection Control Officer.

 

This role is responsible for overseeing the facility’s Infection Prevention and Control Program while supporting resident safety, regulatory compliance, staff education, and quality clinical outcomes.

Infection Preventionist / Infection Control Officer Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the facility Infection Prevention and Control Program
  • Monitor infection surveillance data and identify trends
  • Ensure compliance with CDC, OSHA, CMS, and state regulations
  • Conduct infection control audits and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Educate and train staff on infection prevention protocols and best practices
  • Oversee outbreak investigations and response procedures
  • Collaborate with nursing leadership, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to promote resident safety
  • Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and infection tracking logs
  • Monitor antibiotic stewardship initiatives
  • Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities

Qualifications

  • Current and active North Carolina RN license required
  • Infection Preventionist certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
  • Long-term care or skilled nursing experience preferred
  • Knowledge of infection prevention regulations and practices
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Experience with staff education and compliance monitoring preferred

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited school of NursingValid state licensure as an RN or LPNMinimum of two years' experience as an Infection Preventionist or related healthcare experience with knowledge of patient care practices, microbiology, infectious diseases, and epidemiology.Completion of Infection Prevention training/IPCO Certification prior to assuming the role.CIC or APIC preferred.
