Essential Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Works under close supervision of RN to clean and high level disinfect endoscopes and other equipment used for endoscopy procedures

 

  • Knowledgeable of cleaning and disinfecting solutions used

 

  • Monitors and records parameters for disinfecting solutions

 

  • Wears PPE as required

 

  • Follows infection control policies and procedures; attends annual infection control in-service

 

  • Monitors and records operation of steam sterilizer

 

  • Steam sterilizes appropriate equipment according to procedure

 

  • Follows procedure for cleaning, sterilizing, and packaging of instruments

 

  • Performs autoclave cleaning and maintenance according to manufacturer's recommendations

 

  • Maintains disinfection log records

 

  • Stocks supplies as needed

 

  • Keeps area clean, free of food, and soiled lined emptied

 

  • Maintains eye wash station and records weekly checks

 

  • Cleans exhaust hood filters

 

  • Knows location and usage of MSDS and spill kits

 

  • Informs supervisor of problems with any equipment

 

 

Other Duties:
