Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Works under close supervision of RN to clean and high level disinfect endoscopes and other equipment used for endoscopy procedures

Knowledgeable of cleaning and disinfecting solutions used

Monitors and records parameters for disinfecting solutions

Wears PPE as required

Follows infection control policies and procedures; attends annual infection control in-service

Monitors and records operation of steam sterilizer

Steam sterilizes appropriate equipment according to procedure

Follows procedure for cleaning, sterilizing, and packaging of instruments

Performs autoclave cleaning and maintenance according to manufacturer's recommendations

Maintains disinfection log records

Stocks supplies as needed

Keeps area clean, free of food, and soiled lined emptied

Maintains eye wash station and records weekly checks

Cleans exhaust hood filters

Knows location and usage of MSDS and spill kits

Informs supervisor of problems with any equipment
