Position Overview: Our role of Senior Buyer is based in Wilmington, MA, and will be responsible for managing the overall Monogram Foods/Supplier relationship at Plant level. Includes sourcing, negotiating, planning, and analyzing commodities to align Monogram Foods with strategic suppliers. This position will report to the Director, Procurement Strategic Sourcing        Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Place purchase orders for ingredients, supplies and packaging materials as assigned Contact suppliers to get updates on orders, expedite and troubleshoot late shipments as necessary  Identify and qualify potential new suppliers, request samples, specifications and cost Resolve freight/shipment issues, address quality concerns and pricing discrepancies Manage the return, replacement and credit for problem deliveries Support cross-functional activities and interact with Logistics, Quality, Marketing, R&D and Sales to assess current and future sourcing requirements Coordinate regularly with scheduling, warehousing, accounting, and production departments Monitor purchases and inventory replenishment of materials and ingredient inventories to meet weekly production requirements Actively seek opportunities to improve quality and service while driving out costs Manage inventory levels through the use of tools and analysis to minimize risk of write-off while ensuring production continuity Maintain personal knowledge of market trends, including analysis of market drivers, cost structures and technical improvements Participate in meetings involving cross-functional teams, leadership, suppliers or customers NOTE: This list presents only the principal duties of the position and is not intended to be comprehensive. The duties and responsibilities listed above may be changed or supplemented at any time in accordance with business needs and conditions The ideal candidate will have the following: Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field preferred 5 or more years of professional experience required (Food Purchasing experience preferred) Strong interpersonal abilities, communication skills, analytical capabilities, and customer service experience desired Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills with a keen sense of urgency required Comfortable with developing and presenting out topics to various groups including leadership Motivated, self-starter, able to work independently and make fact-based decisions/recommendations Able to see the bigger picture and work collaboratively with other business partners to accomplish the common goal Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel preferred, Power BI desirable) and ERP systems (MS D365 preferred) Additional experience/training in process improvement (Six Sigma or other technique), critical problem solving, and project management desired. Experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred. Physical Demands: Performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, stand; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear 8-9 hours per day.   The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 5 lbs., and occasionally lift and/or move more than 40 lbs. Must be able to sit for up to 8-9 hours per day. Use keyboard, mouse, visually see, and look at computer monitors up to 8-9 hours per day.
