Responsible for overseeing vessel loading crew of bulk materials to ensure smooth and efficient port operations. Job includes supervision daily operations to ensure compliance with safety, operational procedures and efficiency goals, help with addressing and resolving operational challenges and communicating with employees, leadership, and ship crew. 

Responsibilities

    • Follow all workplace and job safety procedures 
    • Supervise, train and coach employee to accomplish safety, productivity, quality and efficiency objectives 
    • Responsible for employee training, vacation, breaks, and back up for absent employees 
    • Coordinate vessel loading during loading process, communicate during shift meetings and communicate with third party vendors including ship captain and third-party inspectors 
    • Troubleshooting to improve reliability of equipment, escalate issues promptly for proper resolution 
    • Operate mobile equipment including inside the storage domes and on vessels 
    • Troubleshoot basic control systems and be familiar with basic machinery functions.  
    • Perform housekeeping audits 
    • Communicate to Operations team, escalating issues as necessary 
    • Other related duties as assigned and serve as backup resource when needed 

Qualifications

    • Supervisor experience or equivalent experience at port operation 
    • Ability to work multiple shift schedules and rotating shifts as required 
    • Excellent communication skills 
    • Ability to independently manage priorities and schedule to meet deadlines. 
    • Able to obtain a TWIC 

Preferred Qualifications - What Will Set You Apart

  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
  • Associate degree or Bachelor's degree preferred.

Working Conditions

    • Must be able to work in outdoor environment and occasionally in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees 
    • Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold and noisy industrial environment 
    • Work includes high places more than 175 feet, use main lifts and work in confined spaces 
    • Willing and able to maintain a strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment 
    • Available to work evenings, weekends, and overnight to address unexpected site issues with or without notice 

Physical Requirements

    • Able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and crawling and pulling for up to twelve (12) hours per day 
    • Able to work in high places more than 175 feet, use man lifts and work in confined spaces 
    • Able to work around moving equipment and machinery 
    • Able to pull and lift up to 50 lbs 
    • Able to safety and successfully perform and essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
