Job Summary
The Port Operations Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth movement of products through the Wilmington port channel. The incumbent will enhance product workflow by analyzing and developing logistics plans that support production schedules, distribution needs, and inventory accuracy. The Port Operations Specialist serves as a central point of coordination between port partners, third-party logistics providers, carriers, and internal teams to resolve issues related to inventory, production, and scheduling.Â
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in monitoring maintenance and repair activity for equipment and containers
- Review and update repair records, work orders, and inspection data
- Maintain and track parts inventory, including issuing and recording parts usage
- Retrieve and process container downloads and related documentation
- Provide radio coverage support when needed toassistwith terminal communication
- Monitor and report container and equipment damage within the yard
- Work closely with ILA union mechanics to support daily repair operations
- Support coordination between operations, maintenance teams, and vendors
- Assist with basic reporting, data entry, and documentation
- Review and approve all invoices, work with M&R Coordinator tomaintainrecords and accounts payable and receivable systems.  
- Participate in special projects as required, to recommend/improve M&R initiatives.Â
- Follow company procedures and safety standards
- Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 1 – 3 years of experience in operations, logistics, warehousing, or a related field
- Possess or have ability to obtain a valid TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) card required
- Knowledge of D365, EPort, IPOS, Tranship, and Third-Party Railcar websites.
- Technical knowledge in chassis repairs, diesel engines, power generators, refrigeration, and container construction preferred.Â
- Desire to learn maintenance and repair processes in a terminal environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Word).
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple operational issues simultaneously
- Excellent communication skills - oral and written
- Climb stairs and traversing uneven surfaces
- Sit, walk, and stand for long periods of time.Â
- Work in a warehouse setting or field locations
- Includes working around heavy equipment such as forklifts, tow-motors, etc.Â
- Occasionally be exposed to wet and /or humid conditions.
- Ability to work on vessels and loading docks.Â
- Noise level of the environment is often loud.
- Use computer(s), communication and related equipment and software effectively.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends and holidays.
