Job DetailsJob Location: Foundation YMCA - Wilson, NC 27893Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $36,565.00 - $54,892.00 SalaryPOSITION SUMMARY: The Y-GIG Youth Coordinator is a full-time position dedicated to the Y-GIG After School Program. This position requires time dedicated to two of the Wilson County Middle Schools and the Foundation YMCA. Responsibilities will be between these sites. The initial work hours will begin on the campuses of the assigned middle schools promoting the Y-GIG After School program and building relationships with the students who will be participating in the program and school administration and staff. The remaining work hours will be onsite at the Foundation YMCA assisting with managing and supporting the needs of the Y-GIG After School program. The Y-GIG Youth Coordinator serves as the primary contact with school administration, faculty, students, and parents at their assigned schools. Overall, this individual will be responsible for assisting the Executive Director with the development, implementation, operation, and sustainability of the Y-GIG After School program.     ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:   The Y-GIG Youth Coordinator must have the competencies, skills, and proven leadership ability to successfully conduct the Foundation YMCA and Y-GIG After School mission, goals, and vision for serving the youth and community. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:   Feeder School: Coordinate with the feeder school’s administration, teachers, and other staff to successfully promote and implement the MSAS program by: Overseeing student recruitment for the after-school program and ensuring optimal enrollment at all times. Developing relationships with school and community stakeholders to communicate the program goals and objectives.  Planning, implementing, and attending appealing and meaningful programs and events for parents and/or families on a regular basis; providing an ongoing network (formal and informal) of support for program parents. Assist with promoting and marketing the MSAS program and services to engage After School students and parents. Interacting with children and ensuring that their individual needs are met. Performs all other duties as assigned.      YMCA Site: Assist the Executive Director with administering the day-to-day operation of the afterschool program, ensuring that all the program components are implemented to fidelity, which includes, but is not limited to: Assisting with evaluating program quality and fidelity, implementing necessary steps to remedy weaknesses according to Y-USA and Healthcare Foundation measurement and evaluation guidelines. Assisting with the reporting of data to Y-USA and Healthcare Foundation consistent with the reporting schedule and timelines: Program Enrollment Data Health Outcomes  Academic Outcomes Social Emotional Learning Data Other Assisting with recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising/mentoring Y-GIG tutors and volunteers. Promoting a team concept through a positive approach to supervision, communication, and interactions with others.  Maintaining ongoing communication with supervisors, staff, and volunteers in a clear, concise, and positive manner. At the end of the day, make sure classrooms/program areas are ready for the following day, put away program supplies/equipment, and discard any trash. Ensuring the safe pick up of all students by an approved parent/guardian before ending the day.  Maintaining required program records including, but not limited to attendance sheets, incident sheets, and behavior reports. Maintaining positive relations with children, parents, co-workers, and volunteers, while maintaining confidentiality of information related to parents and children. Conducting yourself as a positive role model for staff while implementing YMCA character development and following the four core values of Caring, Honesty, Responsibility, and Respect. Assisting in planning, leading, and implementing activities within the established guidelines. Acquainting children with rules, activities, schedule, and area. Taking responsibility for the leadership, guidance, and safety/welfare of each child in attendance. Supervising the children, areas, and all activities. Attending all program events, staff meetings, and training. Complying with our Child Protection Policy to create a safe and nurturing environment. Reporting any problems, issues, or departmental concerns to the supervisor in a timely manner. Providing for a strong professional image regarding dress, attitude, punctuality, communication, and demeanor. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies. Assuming responsibilities for any other duties relevant to position as assigned by the Supervisor.   QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field (preferred) Experience working with children (preferably upper elementary/middle school aged) Experience working with diverse groups from various social and economic segments of the community (preferred) Ability to work hours consistent with programming needs. Ability to solve problems and make decisions that adhere to the purpose, mission, and goals of the Y-GIG and Foundation YMCA Ability to communicate effectively with all levels including YMCA staff, school staff, parents, volunteers, program providers, and students. Must possess strong interpersonal, organizational, and planning skills. Commitment to the community of Wilson Willingness to obtain CPR, AED, and First Aid certification. Willingness to obtain CDL with endorsements necessary to drive a YMCA bus (as needed) Willingness to complete required professional development and training Background check (required)     PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to plan, lead, and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings. Ability to supervise/monitor children. Ability to communicate with students, colleagues, parents, community partners, and stakeholders. Ability to hold, carry, or grasp items related to program operations. Ability to speak and write concisely and effectively to communicate needs.
