About the Role:
The Highway Lighting Installer plays a critical role in enhancing road safety and visibility by installing, maintaining, and repairing lighting systems along highways and major roadways. This position requires working closely with construction teams and electrical engineers to ensure that lighting installations meet all regulatory standards and project specifications. The installer is responsible for interpreting technical drawings and electrical schematics to accurately position and connect lighting fixtures and control systems. Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are paramount, as the work often occurs in active traffic environments and requires coordination with traffic management teams. Ultimately, the role contributes to safer nighttime driving conditions and improved infrastructure reliability across transportation networks.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience in electrical installation or maintenance, preferably in outdoor or roadway environments.
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and safety protocols.
- Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience specifically with highway or street lighting systems.
- Training in traffic control and work zone safety.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery such as bucket trucks or cranes.
Responsibilities:
- Install highway lighting fixtures, poles, and associated electrical components according to project plans and safety standards.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on existing lighting systems to ensure optimal functionality and compliance with regulations.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to guide installation and troubleshooting activities.

- Document work performed, including installation details, maintenance activities, and any issues encountered for project records.
- Adhere strictly to occupational health and safety guidelines to minimize risks to self, team members, and the public.
