About the Role:

The Traffic Signal Installer plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic by installing, maintaining, and repairing traffic signal systems. This position involves working closely with construction teams and municipal agencies to implement traffic control devices that comply with local, state, and federal regulations. The installer is responsible for interpreting technical plans and blueprints to accurately position and connect signal equipment. Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are paramount to prevent accidents and ensure system reliability. Ultimately, the role contributes to public safety and infrastructure development by delivering fully operational traffic signal installations on schedule.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Experience in electrical or construction work, preferably related to traffic signal or electrical systems installation.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy equipment and working at heights.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in traffic signal installation or electrical work.
  • Familiarity with National Electrical Code (NEC) and Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) standards.
  • Experience operating bucket trucks or other aerial lift equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of traffic signal controller programming and troubleshooting.
  • Completion of OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 safety training.

Responsibilities:

  • Install traffic signal poles, controllers, wiring, and related equipment according to engineering specifications and safety standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of existing traffic signal systems to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other construction personnel to coordinate installation schedules and site logistics.
  • Conduct site inspections to verify proper installation and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Operate hand and power tools, as well as specialized equipment, to complete installation tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and any issues encountered during installation.
