This role is part of our Space and Launch business, which has contributed to the nation’s space programs for decades by delivering complete solutions from concept to flight. We enable successful space operations with mission-critical technology supporting every step from first launch to final landing, including launch vehicle subsystems, propulsion systems, aerodynamic and interstage systems, and payload protection and deployment. The Quality Inspector Lead supports a fast-paced production environment by overseeing inspection activities and contributing to consistent product quality. The role combines hands-on inspection work with day-to-day coordination of inspectors, ensuring materials, assemblies, and finished products meet defined standards while supporting efficient workflow and a safety-focused culture.

Responsibilities

• Leads and coordinates the work of quality inspectors to ensure inspections are completed accurately and on schedule.
• Performs inspections on incoming materials, in-process assemblies, and finished goods according to company standards and customer specifications.
• Maintains clear and organized inspection records that support production flow and quality documentation requirements.
• Trains and mentors' inspectors and production team members in quality procedures, inspection methods, and standard operating practices.
• Collaborates with Production Supervisors, Engineering, and Quality teams to resolve quality issues and maintain smooth workflow.
• Supports root-cause identification and corrective and preventive action activities to reduce rework and improve consistency.
• Ensures inspection tools, gauges, and equipment are maintained, calibrated, and readily available.
• Promotes a safety-first environment by modeling safe work habits and ensuring compliance with company guidelines.
• Supports continuous improvement initiatives that enhance production efficiency, product quality, and waste reduction.
• Communicates quality trends, concerns, and inspection results to the Production Supervisor in a timely manner.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Five or more years of experience in quality inspection or production manufacturing environments.
• Strong understanding of inspection practices, manufacturing processes, and basic quality control principles.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
• Excellent communication skills with a team-oriented, problem-solving approach.
• Comfortable using computers and production or quality software tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical training or manufacturing coursework.
• Previous lead or team-lead experience in a hands-on, shop-floor environment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in a production environment.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds as needed.
• Good visual acuity for detailed inspection work.
