Maintenance Director (HVAC) – Working Supervisor

Location: Northwest Indiana / Northern Indiana
Job Type: Full-Time | Exempt

Join Our Team

Good Oil Company is seeking an experienced Maintenance Director to lead our maintenance team while remaining actively involved in the field. This is a working leadership role, not a desk job. We're looking for someone with a strong HVAC background who enjoys troubleshooting, mentoring technicians, and ensuring our convenience store locations are well maintained.

What You'll Do

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of maintenance technicians.
  • Perform HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building repairs.
  • Prioritize and assign work orders while helping complete them.
  • Develop and oversee preventive maintenance programs.
  • Manage maintenance inventory and equipment.
  • Coordinate outside contractors when needed.
  • Ensure work is completed safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies.

Qualifications

  • HVAC certification and at least 5 years of HVAC experience required.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in commercial building maintenance.
  • Ability to motivate and hold a team accountable.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Proficient with basic Microsoft Office applications.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is:

  • A hands-on leader who leads by example.
  • Organized, dependable, and safety-focused.
  • Comfortable balancing field work with planning and team leadership.
  • A strong communicator who can build accountability while maintaining positive relationships.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, generally 8:00 AM-5:00 PM, with participation in an after-hours and weekend on-call rotation.

If you're an experienced HVAC professional ready to take the next step into leadership while continuing to work in the field, we'd love to hear from you.
