Pharmacy Technician (Admixture & Dispensing) 

Full-Time | Onsite | Monday – Friday

$25.00 - $29.00 per hour. The actual hiring rate may vary based on several factors, including your previous work experience, educational background, certifications, the responsibilities of the position, and demonstrated performance. As a Pharmacy Technician, you'll play a key role in supporting patients throughout their cancer treatment journey by helping prepare, dispense, and deliver oral and IV medications safely and accurately. Responsibilities

  • Prepare, compound, admix, label, and dispense oral and IV medications in compliance with USP, OSHA, and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Review prescription orders for completeness and accuracy, including patient demographics, allergies, physician authorization, dosage calculations, and prescription details prior to pharmacist or physician verification.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and document dispensing activities, patient interactions, billing, and order fulfillment within the pharmacy management system and EHR.
  • Maintain required pharmacy records, including controlled substance logs, temperature monitoring, protocol drug logs, reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Support prior authorizations, insurance requirements, Medicare Part B processes, and patient financial assistance programs to facilitate access to therapy.
  • Manage medication inventory, including ordering, receiving, invoice reconciliation, lot and expiration date tracking, recalls, returns, and wholesaler communications.
  • Perform quality assurance, infection control, cleaning, maintenance, and regulatory compliance activities for admixture and pharmacy operations.
  • Serve as a resource to patients, providers, nurses, and other clinical staff by supporting prescription clarification, refills, medication adherence, patient education, and dispensing-related inquiries.
  • Conduct self-audits and other compliance activities to support regulatory readiness and minimize audit risk.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of one year of experience in pharmacy.
  • IV skills strongly preferred
  • Virginia State Pharmacy Technician License

The role requires manual dexterity, fine motor skills, eye-hand coordination, and the ability to read and interpret measurements accurately. Employees must be able to sit and stand for extended periods and occasionally lift or carry items weighing up to 40 pounds. Normal or corrected vision and hearing are required.
