Job Summary
The Registrar is responsible for collecting patient demographic and insurance information for outpatient services. This role ensures a smooth and efficient registration process while collecting co-pays and deductibles at the point of service. The Registrar plays a key role in creating a positive first impression of the hospital for patients and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and accurately enter patient demographic, billing, and clinical information in a timely manner
- Distribute and explain forms, documents, and educational materials to patients or family members
- Meet with patients or caregivers to gather required information and explain registration processes
- Address patient questions and concerns with professionalism and clarity
- Communicate with physician offices, nursing staff, and other personnel to coordinate admissions and patient placement
- Verify insurance benefits and obtain required precertification/authorization
- Collect co-pays, deductibles, and other required payments or refer patients to financial counselors when appropriate
- Ensure a positive, efficient, and patient-focused registration experience
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED (Preferred); Associate’s Degree (Preferred)
- License: N/A
- Certifications: Handle with Care certification required within 30 days of orientation and maintained annually
