Job Description

To assure that all supply carts, par level carts, instrument sets, single peel packs and emergency supplies meet established quotas both qualitatively and quantitatively and delivered to the surgical core(s) or surgical suite in a timely manner. Provides patient care and treatment, under the direction of an RN/MD as detailed and determined through the unit specific competency/skills checklist, equipment skills matrix, and in-servicing training. Assist with Operating Room turnovers in accordance with established procedures to meet established turnover times. Ensures that all areas of responsibility including patient and non-patient care area are cleaned in accordance with established procedures. Assist with Case Cart Set Up. Assist with transporting specimen’s to lab. • Checks packaging for defects and expiration dates of assigned areas. • Rotates items - first in first out. • Handles items aseptically. • Understands nursing and medical terminology for supplies and instruments. • Verifies pick list and scheduled case are correct. • Pulls cases in order of first to last according to time. • Documents items pulled on pick list. Missing items, and items to be saved are documented on case cart tag • Needs list for instruments sent to SPD every 2 hours starting at . • Informs inventory coordinator and schedule coordinator of missing disposable supplies to assure case can proceed. • Completes a priority list to show where high volume or one of kind instruments is to ensure ease ability of locating instruments for an emergency. • Supply areas and par carts restocked to par level (Check on 7-3, 3-11 and 11-7) • Works with lead tech to adjust par levels. • Observes aseptic technique, recognizes hazardous equipment and situations and cleans and prepares clinical areas on a daily/monthly basis. • Inventories assigned locations using inventory sheets.

Education
High School Diploma or GED required

Certification & Licensures
Current BCLS Certification preferred.

Qualifications
Excellent working knowledge of inventory control, aseptic technique, surgical procedures (all services), sterile processing techniques, case carts and par level systems and medical supplies.
