About the Role
Redhorse transforms the way government uses data and technology. To support this mission, we are seeking a Systems Engineer / Architect to provide holistic support for the FBI’s mission-critical IT infrastructure. In this role, you will be the architect of resilience, designing and maintaining both virtual and physical architectures that power the Bureau’s daily operations. You will be responsible for ensuring a rigorous 99.9% system uptime and providing Tier 4 support for the most complex outages. Your work in growth analysis and infrastructure design will ensure that the FBI’s technology remains ahead of the curve, enabling seamless operations in a high-stakes environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide holistic systems engineering and architecture services to support and evolve the FBI’s IT infrastructure.
  • Design and document complex virtual and physical architectures, maintaining up-to-date system diagrams and technical documentation.
  • Perform growth analysis for diverse functional areas to predict future infrastructure needs and prevent performance bottlenecks.
  • Ensure a high-availability environment with a mandated system uptime of 99.9% for critical mission services.
  • Provide Tier 4 technical support, serving as the final escalation point for the most complex system outages and performance issues.
  • Perform hardware and software audits to ensure system integrity, security compliance, and licensing accuracy.
  • Manage system sustainment activities, including robust backup operations and database archiving.


Required Experience/Clearance
  • Active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in systems engineering or IT architecture.
  • Expertise in installing, configuring, and maintaining both Windows and Linux operating systems across workstations and servers.
  • Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals, including LAN/WAN, TCP/IP protocols, and network virtualization.
  • Proven experience with system sustainment operations, including backups, database archives, and disaster recovery.
  • Experience performing growth analysis and architectural planning for enterprise-scale IT environments.


Desired Experience
  • Current SAFe Agilist (SA) certification.
  • Experience using Splunk for system health monitoring, dashboard creation, and log analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with BigFix for endpoint management and software deployment.
  • Familiarity with the Technical Change Control Board (TCCB) processes and configuration management.
  • Experience with advanced network virtualization and software-defined networking.
