Job Description

1. Location: Department: Logistics

109 Tyson Drive, Winchester, VA

2. Job Title: Warehouse Associate Lead-Assembly Classification: Hourly

3. Education and Experience Required: Highschool or equivalent; 3 years of work experience in warehouse manufacturing environment; basic computer skills; ability to become a certified forklift operator

4. Job Skill and Knowledge Requirements:

  • Ability to train new Team Members and cross-train existing Team Members in LISA WMS
  •  Ability to lead others including seasonal temporary workers
  •  Proficiency in LISA Warehouse Management System
  •  Support Warehouse Management in all functions and procedures
  •  Ability to follow and have Team Members follow Warehouse procedures
  • Strong teamwork skills and collaboration 
  • Ability to count, add, subtract and multiply
  • Ability to read numbers and labels
  • Safe operation of equipment
  • Ability to comprehend packing list, pick orders, transfer sheets, change of location sheets and other 
  • paperwork
  • Ability to work independently
  •  Communication skills, oral and written
  •  Problem solving skills and ability to make decisions regarding workflow

5. Machines, Materials, Tools, and Equipment Used:

 Forklift, pallet jack, shrink wrapping system, order picker and RF Scanner

6. Specific Job Duties, Activities and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to perform transactions in LISA across all warehouse procedures
  • This position is a Lead position but does not have the authority to discipline employees.
  • Promote safe work environment through personal actions. Identify any safety concerns, report faulty 
  • equipment, damage to racks, and other safety hazards to supervisor.
  • Perform repack/rework assignments at an acceptable rate
  • Ability to understand work instructions and set up assembly line accordingly 
  • Verify work orders are being done properly according to work instructions
  • Keep track of work hours for each job
  • Ensure proper material is in the work area
  • Clear work area of loose wood and plastic; sweep work area as needed.
  • Inventory product as needed. Label, sort, wrap and tie product.
  • Cycle counting.
  • Act as a backup to other warehouse leads
  • Other duties as assigned.

7. Accountability: Adhere to Melnor’s Employee Handbook, Core Values policies and procedures; meet deadlines and goals.

Note: Management reserves the right to place employees on specific jobs, which best meets the skill set of the employee to help achieve and meet the daily warehouse efficiency expectation. 

8. Stress Factor: Heavy seasonal workload, which may require occasional overtime.

9. Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. The performance of this position requires exposure to the warehouse area where closed shoe wear is required. For the most part employees will be exposed to ambient temperature, lighting and traditional equipment as found in a typical warehouse environment. 

10. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The job will require walking and standing primarily on a level surface for periods through-out the day, reaching above shoulder heights, bending below the waist or lifting up to 60 lbs. Proper lifting technique is required. The individual is required to bend, twist, kneel, and hear, handle objects, sit, use close and distance vision.

11. Hours of Work: 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with occasional overtime due to seasonal business. When workload allows, employees will be able to switch to flex time according to company rules and based on warehouse workload. 

12. Other Requirements: Closed shoe wear and wear assigned PPE
