Responsible to effectively manage time and resources for successful service of these events.  Also assists in cafeteria preparation.   ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB: (other duties may be assigned) Deliver food and supplies to events Deliver food to catered events in a timely and courteous manner. Transport supplies to areas and assemble food needs. Be mindful of all safe food handling practices; using cambros, chillers, etc.   Service of catered events. Be respectful and discreet with all guests. Practice optimum customer service skills. Anticipate, meet, or exceed customer expectations. Always set up displays per established layout plans and standards. Strive for attractiveness, appeal, and flow in all service set-ups.   Perform cleaning work tasks throughout the serviced areas and catering storage area. Wash dishes. Wipe counter areas, carts, and dishwashing machine. Transport bins with dishes up and down steps while utilizing proper body mechanics. Clean tables, counter areas, and kitchenette as necessary. Obtain supplies for the next day.   Provide meal services to Windber Research Institute. Daily set up food items at established time. Monitor cash box and complete usage report. Make sure all necessary condiments are available.   Assist as assigned in the cafeteria. Operate cash register. Assist with preparation of grab and go items.   Assist in patient meal necessities. Assist with meal services as assigned. Assist with minor preparatory work when requested.   OTHER DUTIES OF JOB: Bag patient silverware and place napkins and tray covers on trays. Deliver late trays when needed. Prepare and serve meals at Board of Director dinners. Provide assistance to others when required by high census. Perform other related duties as assigned or required. Follow standard precaution guidelines.   SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Supervision is received by the Dietary Manager.   SUPERVISION ADMINISTERED: This position typically does not require the supervision of staff.     MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB: This position typically requires: The ability to manage multiple projects/tasks, provide close attention to detail, work a predictable schedule, establish own goals, work closely with others, and maintain much record-keeping/routine paperwork.  The ability to constantly use repetitive finger movement, withstand repetitive twisting or pressure involving wrists or hands, communicate orally, hear conversation, use specific visual requirements, and use color vision is also typically required.  The ability to frequently walk, lift approximately ten pounds, reach and use rapid mental/muscular coordination simultaneously is also typically required.  The ability to occasionally stand, sit, lift between 25 and 65 pounds, carry approximately ten pounds, push approximately ten pounds, carry approximately ten pounds, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, repeatedly bend, and use depth perception is also typically required.   WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position typically requires: Independent work and contact with patients; frequent work in heat between 90-100 degrees Fahrenheit; occasional exposure to temperature changes, working with hands in water, and working more than 40 hours per week.  Also exposure to the elements when delivering events.   PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: This position typically requires: Vinyl gloves.   QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS: Education/Training/License/Certification: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Work Experience: One to three months to one year related experience and/or training. Driving Record:       If deemed a driver in your position, a valid Driver’s license and proof of insurance are required. Motor Vehicle Record checks will be performed upon hire, in addition to annually thereafter.   KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to patients and other employees of the organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Effective written and verbal communication skills as well as interpersonal skills. Knowledge of various regulatory agency regulations; including JCAHO and PA. Department of Health. Knowledge of diet modification.
