We are seeking a Senior Software EngineerĀ to join our team at Collins AerospaceĀ in Windsor Locks, CT. In this role,Ā you’llĀ be part of a team designing, developing, and verifying real-time embedded software that keepsĀ aircraftĀ safe and reliable. You will translate customer requirements into software requirements, implement and review code in C or Assembly, and ensure every design and line of software meets strict compliance standards. You will generate, run, and review test scripts and data to support verification activities and produce the documentation needed for aerospace certification. Your work will directly contribute to the safety of warfighters and travelers while giving you a front-row view of world-class aerospace software in action.Ā 

What You Will DoĀ 

  • Software design, development, and verification tasksĀ 

  • Manage translation of customer requirements into software requirementsĀ 

  • Review software requirements to ensure compliance with customer requirementsĀ 

  • Manage implementation of software requirements and/or software code (C/Assembly language)Ā 

  • Review software design and code to ensure compliance with software requirementsĀ 

  • Generate, run, and review test scripts and data to support software verification test activitiesĀ 

  • Generate documents to support aerospace certificationĀ 

Qualifications You Must HaveĀ Ā 

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experienceĀ 

  • Proven experience in development of embedded softwareĀ 

Qualifications We PreferĀ Ā 

  • Experience developing software architecture in an embedded software environment, including design, implementation, and optimization of real-time systems.Ā 

  • Full life-cycle software development experience, covering requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance.Ā 

  • Experience with DO-178 (Level A) or equivalent military/avionics software standards, ensuring compliance with safety-critical certification requirements.Ā 

  • Experience managing projects and coordinating tasks across functional teams and multiple geographic locations,Ā demonstratingĀ strong leadership and communication skills.Ā 

  • Experience with software verification and validation testing, including writing test plans, executing tests, and analyzing results for embedded systems.Ā 

  • ProficiencyĀ in C, Assembly, and/or Python programming, with the ability to develop, debug, andĀ optimizeĀ embedded software.Ā 

  • Experience using logic analyzers and other lab test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, and in-circuit debuggers, to support hardware/software integration and troubleshooting.Ā

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
