Responsibilities

About The Role

The Defense Mission and Health Solutions team, Benefits, Claims & Integrity Solutions Operating Unit seeks a Verification Director to support our Health and Human Services (HHS) and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) customer delivery and be part of the leadership for CMS Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight (CCIIO) initiatives.  The Verifications Director provides executive leadership and oversight for all verification, processing, and customer‑facing operational activities at a major government site or across multiple mission locations. This role serves as the senior onsite representative to government leadership, ensuring the efficient delivery of verification services, compliance with federal standards, and exceptional customer engagement. The Verifications Director leads operational performance, workforce management, and strategic improvements to support the customer mission.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Serve as the primary customer‑facing leader for verification operations, maintaining daily contact with government stakeholders and ensuring responsive, transparent communication.
  • Lead all verification and processing activities across the site, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal regulations and contract requirements.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with government officials, responding to inquiries, providing briefings, and addressing operational needs.
  • Oversee site operational teams, including managers, supervisors, and specialists supporting verification, credentialing, customer service, and workflow execution.
  • Develop and implement workforce strategies, staffing plans, and training programs to ensure a fully capable, mission‑ready team.
  • Monitor operational metrics, throughput, quality performance, and service levels; drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance mission delivery.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all applicable federal, agency, and internal Peraton policies governing verification and identity‑related functions.
  • Lead audit and inspection readiness efforts, maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring process integrity.
  • Identify operational risks and drive mitigation strategies to ensure continuity and consistent performance.
  • Prepare and deliver executive‑level reports, performance summaries, and recommendations to both internal leadership and customer stakeholders.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, high performance, and customer focus throughout the site.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • 10+ years of proven experience leading verification, credentialing, identity‑management, or similar regulated operational environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in customer‑facing leadership roles, especially with senior government stakeholders.
  • Strong background leading large teams and high‑volume, compliance‑driven operational workflows.
  • Excellent communication, relationship management, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience using data and metrics to drive operational performance.
  • US Citizen and the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active public trust clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, operations, public administration, security, or related
  • Prior experience supporting HHS or state Medicaid, or other federal agencies.
  • Leadership experience with multi‑site or enterprise‑level operational environments.
  • Certifications such as PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or relevant security/operations credentials.
  • Familiarity with verification, identity management, credentialing, or personnel screening systems.

Target Salary Range

$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
