The HR Generalist is responsible for maintaining the organization’s Human Resources Information System (HRIS), ensuring accurate employee data, and providing day-to-day HR support to employees and managers. This position combines HRIS administration with general HR responsibilities and serves as a key resource for HR operations across the organization.
HRIS and Operations Responsibilities
· Process employee changes including new hires, transfers, promotions, pay changes, status changes, and terminations.
· Maintain employee records and ensure HR data is accurate and confidential.
· Troubleshoot HRIS issues and coordinate with the HRIS/payroll vendor when necessary.
· Track and administer annual performance appraisal campaigns
· Assist with system audits to identify and correct data discrepancies.
· Maintain HRIS workflows, forms, and electronic employee files.
· Support the full employee lifecycle from onboarding through separation.
· Assist with new hire onboarding, including paperwork, HRIS setup, and orientation coordination.
· Respond to employee questions regarding HR policies, benefits, payroll, PTO, and other HR-related matters.
· Assist managers and employees with HR policies, procedures, and day-to-day HR issues.
· Assist with employee relations matters and escalate complex issues to the HR Manager as appropriate.
· Maintain required personnel records and assist with compliance reporting.
· Assist with employment verification, unemployment claims, and other routine HR administration.
· Support HR projects, process improvements, and company-wide HR initiatives.
· Support payroll processing by ensuring employee information, pay changes, deductions, and other HR data are accurate.
· Assist employees and managers with timekeeping and payroll-related questions.
· Maintain confidential employee records in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.
· Assist with required employment documentation and HR compliance activities.
· Support audits and reporting related to employee records, payroll, benefits, and HR programs.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
· 3–5 years of experience in HRIS administration and/or HR generalist responsibilities.
· Experience working with an HRIS and timekeeping/payroll systems.
· Strong understanding of general HR practices and employment processes.
· Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information.
· Strong organizational and time-management skills.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Strong problem-solving and customer service skills.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
· Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with employees, managers, and HR leadership.
Preferred Experience
· Experience in a manufacturing or multi-site environment.
· Experience with ADP or similar HR/payroll systems.
· Experience supporting payroll and timekeeping processes.
· HR certification such as SHRM-CP or PHR is a plus.
