Job Purpose & Position Overview:Â
This is manual work in the custodial and housekeeping care of the Twelve Clans Unity Hospital. Work involves the performance of varied cleaning, minor maintenance, and repair tasks following established routines in the hospital facility. Specific instructions are received on unusual jobs. Frequently, the moving or lifting of equipment and materials is required. Work is inspected while in progress or upon completion, for adherence to instructions and work standards.Â
Specific Job Duties/Responsibilities:Â
- Demonstrate WCHS’s core mission, vision and values
- Cleans and disinfect restrooms and replenish supplies; clean and disinfect water fountains
- Change light bulbs and ballasts, unclog sinks and toilets and report the need for repairs
- Sweep, vacuum, wax, mop, and buff floors, dusts and clean offices, assigned rooms, cafeteria, gym, and related areas; collect and remove trash, wash walls and windows
- Make minor repairs as needed, and report any major damage/repairs
- Keep all janitorial equipment and machinery clean and in good operable condition
- May be required to move furniture and equipment; set up rooms and gym; keep sidewalks clear of snow and ice
- Stock supplies for restrooms as needed; strip and wax all floors when assigned
- Attend required company and departmental meetings
- Performs related work as required

Required Qualifications/Skills:Â
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. is preferred.
- Some knowledge of materials, methods, equipment, and procedures used in cleaning
- Ability to make minor repairs and adjustments to building fixtures and equipment
- Ability to operate vacuum cleaners, buffers, and other custodial equipment
- Ability to exercise care in the use of cleaning materials for different types of surfaces
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to work effectively with other employees and staff
- Ability to occasionally perform heavy manual work
- Ability to pass background check and drug screenÂ

Physical Requirements:   Â
- Normal to heavy office work (ability to lift 30-50 lbs. and at times over 50 lbs.)
- Regularly required to walk and stand for extended periods of time and use hands to clean and operate various types of equipment
- While performing daily duties, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear   Â

Training Requirements:  Â
- Must be willing to pursue training as directed by your supervisor; must be willing to cross-train in all functional areas of the Environmental Services department.Â

- Possess the ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.
