Job Purpose & Position Overview 

To coordinate and participate in the repair and servicing of all Public Health Program GSA Fleet vehicles, program owned vehicles, and other gas and diesel- powered automotive equipment. 

Specific Job Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Demonstrates the Winnebago Tribe’s core mission, vision, and values.
  • Opening and closing work orders.
  • Assist with the evaluation of capital expenditures.
  • Perform operation test prior to repairs to verify complaint.
  • Setting up systems to implement preventive and predictive maintenance processes.
  • Readiness to remain available for emergency situations in an on-call status after regular work hours
  • Coordinates necessary repairs with other maintenance shops and/or corresponds with stores as necessary to accomplish maintenance activity.
  • Assist with accident compliance process.
  • Perform final operational test on all vehicles to quality-check all repairs.
  • Will pick-up/exchange/return GSA fleet vehicles at GSA fleet auction site.
  • Make arrangements for mechanic assistance or tow truck and follow-up to ensure that assistance has arrived.
  • Coordinate with other auto dealership vendors for possible new leases.  
  • Ensure that preventive maintenance inspections of fleet vehicles are accomplished in a timely and thorough manner; determines necessary repair actions, establishes repair priorities, and accomplishes minor repairs; refers work to heavy repair when appropriate.
  • Ensure fleet vehicles are fully serviced with fuel, oil, transmission fluid and coolant to meet the requirements of daily operating schedules.
  • Ensure that thorough interior and exterior cleaning of fleet vehicles is accomplished during each servicing cycle; relays information related to necessary repairs with Maintenance Shop.

Medical Services Duties:  

  • Provide transportation to and from the Twelve Clans Unity Hospital, Public Health Programs, and assigned medical transports.
  • Respond to ambulance calls during designated shifts and assist with coverage of available work shifts on a 12-hour rotating basis as well as provide coverage for on-call shifts.
  • Responsible for providing emergency transport and treatment of sick and injured patients of the Winnebago community and surrounding areas.
  • Attend all EMS related training courses.
  • Ability to immediately respond to high emotion/high stress or physically taxing situations without warning and the ability to warm up to and quickly return to daily activities thereafter.
  • Responsible for providing safe motor vehicle operations during transportation of patients for the duration of the emergency call.
  • Responsible for the safety and security of patients at all times.
  • Must be punctual for shift assignments to provide relief for coworkers scheduled on previous shift.
  • Attend and participate in specialized training and/or certification in mental health services such as QPR training, Mental Health First Aid, Self Defense, De Escalation Techniques, Situational Awareness Training as well as Crisis Intervention trainings as assigned.  
  • Responsible for providing non-emergent transports of behavioral patients from the TCUH ER to other facilities, which may be considered long transports to other facilities, which may include out of state designations with travel times of 2 hours or more.
  • Responsible for providing safe motor vehicle operations during the transportation of the client during these type of transports.  
  • Respond to the behavioral health on call requests during designated shifts and assist with coverage to be available to provide coverage during normal business hours and during on call shifts.
  • Responsible for the safety and security of patients at all times  

Qualifications/Skills: 

  • High School Diploma or GED with 2-5 years related work required.
  • Experience in the repair and maintenance in auto motives.
  • Must be in physical demand (lifting, carrying, etc.)
  • Knowledge of engines and controls
  • Be able to work holidays, evening, weekends.
  • Pass a federal background check.
  • Valid driver’s license required and must meet driver’s eligibility guidelines and be insurable.

Physical Requirements:   

  • Normal to heavy work that includes the ability to lift over 50 lbs.
  • While performing daily duties, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
  • Manual dexterity with cooperatively free range of motion of all extremities including neck, fingers, hands, wrists, elbows, arms, shoulders, waist, legs, hips, knee joints, ankles, and feet is required.
