RoleĀ 

We are seeking aĀ Quality ManagerĀ to join ourĀ team.Ā In this role, you willĀ be responsibleĀ forĀ managing all aspects ofĀ product and process quality for the Thacker PassĀ site. The role serves asĀ the siteĀ lead toĀ establishĀ top tierĀ qualityĀ programs, ensure compliance with relevant quality standards,Ā andĀ direct placement of final productĀ according to customer specifications.Ā  The Quality Manager provides leadership to the analytical laboratory team with one direct and 12 indirect reports.Ā Ā The successful candidate willĀ possessĀ strong analytical skills withĀ a track recordĀ ofĀ quality management successĀ inĀ specialty chemicals, manufacturing,Ā orĀ other quality driven industry. The role is basedĀ atĀ Thacker PassĀ and reports to theĀ Vice President of Operations.Ā Occasional travel to other LAC offices, project sites, or vendor locations may be required.Ā 

KeyĀ ResponsibilitiesĀ Ā 

Ā 

  • Ensure smooth and efficient operations of allĀ facetsĀ of theĀ quality controlĀ laboratoryĀ and quality management systems.Ā 

  • Implementation of high-quality QC procedures and input/approval of data into a laboratory information management system.Ā 

  • Establish site wide quality programsĀ with measurable goals andĀ objectives.Ā 

  • Develop,Ā implementĀ andĀ maintainĀ the quality management system (QMS)Ā to ensureĀ compliance with relevant qualityĀ standards (e.g. ISO-9001).Ā 

  • Participate as a member of theĀ OperationsĀ Leadership Team to share ideas and supportĀ sitewideĀ improvement initiatives.Ā 

  • Lead theĀ quality controlĀ laboratory team.Ā Ā Provide guidance, coaching, goal setting, and mentoring for the team.Ā 

  • Collaborate with the Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) teams to align the site quality management system with HSE management systems (e.g. ISO-14001, ISO-45001).Ā Ā Ā Ā 

  • Provide training as needed toĀ ensure employees understandĀ theĀ importance of quality andĀ how they contribute to it.Ā 

  • Use dataĀ and statisticalĀ techniques toĀ establishĀ quality trends,Ā controlĀ limits,Ā andĀ other gauges ofĀ process and product quality.Ā Ā 

  • Track, analyze, and document productionĀ quality metricsĀ andĀ establishĀ plans toĀ addressĀ quality concernsĀ as needed.Ā Ā Lead problem-solving efforts for quality issuesĀ utilizingĀ Root Cause Analysis (RCA) tools, develop corrective actions and track corrective actions resolution.Ā 

  • Create dashboards,Ā reportsĀ and other communication toolsĀ forĀ stakeholders.Ā 

  • Carry outĀ inspections and/or auditsĀ as needed to continuously gauge and improveĀ process performance.Ā 

  • Engage withĀ customers (establishedĀ and potential) to understandĀ and meetĀ their quality needsĀ andĀ assistĀ with qualification and sampling needs.Ā Ā Engage with raw material suppliers to ensure LAC receives materials meeting establishedĀ quality specifications.Ā 

  • Act asĀ the ultimate decision-maker on final product dispositionĀ based on product quality andĀ specific needs of customer base.Ā Ā Provide effective communications to Site LeadershipĀ regardingĀ issues that mayĀ impactĀ the release of product.Ā 

  • Help ensure a safe working environment, being a visible leader for safety, and providing a daily commitment to zero harm to employees, contractors, environment at theĀ Quality Control Laboratory.Ā 

  • Actively manage andĀ participateĀ in the company corrective action system and customer complaint system related to quality control.Ā 

  • ResponsibleĀ forĀ setting up and working with operations on in-process analytical instruments and in-process laboratories within the plant.Ā 

  • Develop Key Performance Indicators and utilize 5S for all laboratories within the plant.Ā 

  • Work closely with the Technical Center Team on continuous improvement in the lab and quality systems where applicable.Ā 

  • Build andĀ maintainĀ trusted relationships across all teams while championing a culture that reflects and supports our Purpose, Vision, and Values.Ā 

  • Perform other duties as assigned.Ā 

Required QualificationsĀ 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevantĀ field such as engineering, manufacturing,Ā chemistry,Ā or quality managementĀ required.Ā 

  • Three or more years’ experience servingĀ in a qualityĀ management or related roleĀ required.Ā 

  • PreviousĀ team leadership experience, (mentoring and coaching) in a laboratory environment is a plus.Ā 

  • Six Sigma or ASQ credentialsĀ are a plus.Ā 

  • Experience inĀ high purityĀ productĀ industries a plus.Ā 

  • Personal commitment to Lithium Americas’ core cultural values of safety, teamwork, and environmental stewardship.Ā 

  • PreviousĀ experience in developing and delivering training programs is a plus.Ā 

  • PreviousĀ experience in Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action management is a plus.Ā 

  • Familiarity with analytical instrumentation and other characterization methods typically usedĀ for specialty products is a plus.Ā 

  • StrongĀ skills inĀ data analysis, statistics,Ā andĀ proficiencyĀ with statistical software packages (Minitab, R,Ā etc.)Ā 

  • Effective and open verbal and written skillsĀ with ability to communicate and collaborate with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external.Ā 

  • Ability to multi-task and coordinateĀ severalĀ projects in parallel, while prioritizing and pursuing critical-path tasks on an accelerating schedule.Ā 

  • Ability to work well with others.Ā
