Production Planner – Entry Level

Planner in Training

Pay: Based on Experience
Shift: 1st Shift, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Schedule: Monday–Friday

Job Summary

We are seeking a Planner in Training to support manufacturing operations by helping plan customer orders, prepare materials, coordinate production requirements, and assist with resolving shop-floor issues. This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and interested in developing a career in manufacturing planning and production operations.

The Planner in Training will work from manufacturing orders and use engineering information, drawings, manufacturing references, and production standards to help ensure orders are prepared accurately and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Work from manufacturing orders to help plan production requirements.
• Prepare bills of material for customer orders.
• Place requisitions for special material requirements.
• Determine appropriate shop routing for individual items.
• Estimate the time required to produce items on manufacturing orders.
• Review order details, engineering and customer drawings, standard drawings, manufacturing handbooks, vendor catalogs, and other reference materials.
• Assist with determining timing standards for manufacturing operations.
• Discuss manufacturing problems with department supervisors and operators and assist with finding solutions.
• Review questionable drawings and production details with supervisors, Engineering, or the appropriate Sales department.
• Assist with changes or corrections to manufacturing orders.
• Assist with preparing stock orders and correcting shop problems related to stock orders.
• Help identify opportunities to minimize material and labor loss.
• Maintain standard drawing files and other related planning information.
• Assist with planning production for specific products as knowledge and experience develop.
• Operate drive equipment as needed after appropriate training.
• Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to read and understand manufacturing orders and technical information.
• Ability to review drawings and production details accurately.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with supervisors, operators, Engineering, Sales, and other departments.
• Ability to learn manufacturing processes, production planning, material requirements, and shop routing.
• Manufacturing or production experience is helpful but not required for the training role.
• Ability to learn and use technical reference materials and manufacturing documentation.
