Job DetailsLevel: ExperiencedJob Location: Winslow Indian Health Care Center - Winslow, AZ 86047Position Type: Full-TimeEducation Level: General Education Diploma - GEDTravel Percentage: OccasionallyJob Shift: DayUnder general supervision of the Emergency Medical Service (EMS) Manager, assists the EMS Manager with the supervision of WIHCC EMS staff and coordinates the EMS program in accordance with AZ requirements. The EMS Assistant Manager works in collaboration with the Nurse Executive, Emergency Department (ED) Nurse Manager, Urgent Care Supervisory Clinical Nurse, and ED/Urgent Care Medical Director; however, the EMS Manager will maintain department oversight. The EMS Assistant Manager will uphold the principles of WIHCC's Vision, Mission, and Value Statements. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information at all times.   This list of duties and responsibilities is illustrative only of the tasks performed by this position and is not all-inclusive.   Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Maintains regular attendance and punctuality. Improves staff effectiveness by motivating, coaching, counseling, training and recommending disciplinary action for employees; planning, delegating, monitoring, appraising job tasks and results in a timely manner, and approving time sheets. Ensures all licensures, certifications, competencies of EMS staff are current and up to date at all times. Develops and maintains quality assurance and quality improvement program and provide for training for staff. Develops and maintains tracking data as related to program. Ensures program meets AZ ambulance program requirements. Collaborates with the ED/Urgent Care Nurse Manager and Pharmacy. Maintains professional knowledge and skill by attending continuing education, staff meetings, workshops and serving on QM/HP Teams/Committees. Provides inter-facility transports for WIHCC patients from satellite clinics into ED/Urgent Care; from ED/Urgent Care to receiving hospitals or airports. Incumbent will work in ED/Urgent Care, assisting ED/Urgent Care and clinic staff with patient care as assigned during down periods of no transports. Remains on-call as needed. Requires completion of tasks or duties assigned by the EMS Manager. Upholds all principles of confidentiality and patient care to the fullest extent. Adheres to all professional and ethical behavior standards of the healthcare industry. Adheres to WIHCCs Personnel Policies and Procedures, departmental policies, rules, and regulations. Interacts in an honest, trustworthy and dependable manner with patients, employees, visitors, and vendors. Possesses cultural awareness and sensitivity. Maintains compliance with all Human Resources requirements. Performs other duties as assigned.  QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: Valid Arizona and National Registry Paramedic certification. Five years or more of experience in the field of EMS and one years in a supervisory role. Must demonstrate proficiency in the following areas: Basic emergency cardiac life support; basic trauma life support; and pediatric emergency care. Current BLS/CPR. Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) is strongly preferred. Bilingual skills in English and Navajo language preferred. Must maintain a valid unrestricted and insurable driver's license. Must successfully pass a background investigation and maintain suitable requirements for a Child Care position. This position is considered as a Child care position, which requires a satisfactory background check investigation and is subject to the requirements of the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act, as amended (henceforth referred as the ICPFVP Act).   Knowledge, Skills, Ability Knowledge of applicable federal, state, county and local laws, regulations, and requirements including the Privacy Act, HIPAA, HITECH, AAAHC, EMTALA and OSHA rules and regulations. Knowledge of strong work ethics in the workplace. Knowledge of basic application of confidentiality. Knowledge of basic computer skills, e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Skill in providing leadership to, supervising, training, and evaluating assigned staff. Skill in understanding and interpreting complex statutes, ordinances, regulations, and standards. Ability to develop and maintain a strong team atmosphere of staff with productive and cooperative working relationship in a fast-paced environment. Ability to assess situations and take appropriate course of actions under stressful and hazardous circumstances. Ability to prepare accurate, complete, and legible reports and present detailed, accurate, and objective oral presentations. Ability to distinguish subtle changes in auscultation of breath sounds, heart sounds, blood pressure, etc. Ability to lift, position, and/or transfer patients. Ability to lift supplies/equipment. Ability to follow extensive safety precautions and use protective equipment. Ability to work with latex products on a routine basis. Ability to be dependable in attendance and job performance. Ability to meet attendance, overtime (if necessary), and other reliability requirements of the job. Ability to accept and learn from feedback. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.   As required by P.L. 93-638, absolute preference will be given to qualified Navajo applicants.  If there is no qualified Navajo applicant, preference will be given to qualified American Indian applicants.
